Inhibition of copper-containing amine oxidase by oximes.

open access: bronzeChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1988
The inhibitory effects of twelve oxime compounds on the activity of bovine serum monoamine oxidase (copper-containing amine oxidase, E.C. 1.4.3.6) were assayed in vitro. The most potent inhibitor among the compounds examined was 2-butanone oxime, of which the 50% inhibiting concentration in the reaction mixture was 7×10-6 M.

Copper-containing amine oxidases contribute to terminal polyamine oxidation in peroxisomes and apoplast of Arabidopsis thaliana [PDF]

open access: goldBMC Plant Biology, 2013
Abstract Background Polyamines (PAs) are oxidatively deaminated at their primary or secondary amino-groups by copper-containing amine oxidases (CuAOs) or FAD-dependent amine oxidases (PAOs), respectively. Both enzymes have long been considered to be apoplastic proteins.

Transient kinetics of copper-containing lentil (Lens culinaris) seedling amine oxidase [PDF]

open access: greenBiochemical Journal, 1985
The reaction between lentil (Lens culinaris) seedling amine oxidase and its chromogenic substrate, p-dimethylaminomethylbenzylamine, has been studied by the stopped-flow technique. Upon being mixed with substrate in the absence of oxygen, the enzyme is bleached in a complex kinetic process.

Interaction of the Lathyrogen Beta-Aminopropionitrile (BAPN) with a Copper-Containing Amine Oxidase.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1967
SummaryPig plasma amine oxidase, an enzyme thought to closely resemble the oxidase functional in collagen and elastin cross-linking, was assayed in the presence of a lathy rogen. BAPN was shown to inhibit enzyme activity competitively and reversibly and to form a complex with the active site of the enzyme.

Current status of neutron crystallography in structural biology

open access: yesBiophysics and Physicobiology, 2022
Hydrogen atoms and hydration water molecules in proteins are essential for many biochemical processes, especially enzyme catalysis. Neutron crystallography enables direct observation of hydrogen atoms, and reveals molecular recognition through hydrogen ...

Increased atherosclerotic plaque in AOC3 knock-out in ApoE−/− mice and characterization of AOC3 in atherosclerotic human coronary arteries

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2022
IntroductionAmine oxidase copper containing 3 (AOC3) displays adhesion between leukocytes and endothelial cells and enzymatic functions. Given its controversial role in atherogenesis, we proposed to investigate the involvement of AOC3 in the formation of

Biocatalytic Production of Aldehydes: Exploring the Potential of Lathyrus cicera Amine Oxidase

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2021
Aldehydes are a class of carbonyl compounds widely used as intermediates in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries. To date, there are few fully enzymatic methods for synthesizing these highly reactive chemicals. In the present work, we explore
