Peri-operative protein or amino acid supplementation for total joint arthroplasty: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research
Purpose Osteoarthritis (OA) affects weight-bearing joints, such as hips and knees, and its prevalence is rising due to factors like obesity and aging.

Molecular imaging predicts trastuzumab‐deruxtecan (T‐DXd) response in head and neck cancer xenograft models

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Trastuzumab‐deruxtecan, a HER2‐targeting antibody‐drug conjugate, shows promising antitumor activity in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma with low HER2 expression. In vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated dose‐dependent cell death and tumor growth reduction in low HER2‐expressing cell lines, which correlated with drug accumulation measured using a

An economic demand-based framework for prioritization strategies in response to transient amino acid limitations

open access: yesNature Communications
Cells contain disparate amounts of distinct amino acids, each of which has different metabolic and chemical origins, but the supply cost vs demand requirements of each is unclear.

EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

Tumor clusters with divergent inflammation and human retroelement expression determine the clinical outcome of patients with serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of treatment‐naïve high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and control tissues for ERVs, LINE‐1 (L1), inflammation, and immune checkpoints identified five clusters with diverse patient recurrence‐free survivals. An inflammation score was calculated and correlated with retroelement expression, where one novel cluster (Triple‐I) with high ...

Association of high‐dose radioactive iodine therapy with PPM1D‐mutated clonal hematopoiesis in older individuals

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In thyroid cancer patients, high‐dose (≥7.4 GBq) radioactive iodine therapy (RAIT) was associated with a higher prevalence of clonal hematopoiesis (variant allele frequency >2%) in individuals aged ≥50 years (OR = 2.44). In silico analyses showed that truncating PPM1D mutations conferred a selective advantage under these conditions.

Amino-acids in Soil [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1950
ALTHOUGH the protein nature of at least one-third of the organic nitrogen of soil has been established1,2, very little is known of the amino-acid composition of this protein material. The isolation of amino-acids from soil hydrolysates is rendered difficult by the presence of large amounts of extraneous inorganic and organic material.
