Locality in amino-acid based imidazolium ionic liquids
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2023Several amino-acid based imidazolium ILs are investigated through the use of ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD), which includes full polarization.

Accounts of Chemical Research, 2007
The preparation of ionic liquids derived from amino acids, and their properties, are outlined. Since amino acids have both a carboxylic acid residue and an amino group in a single molecule, they can be used as either anions or cations. These groups are also useful in their ability to introduce functional group(s).

The Solubility and Stability of Amino Acids in Biocompatible Ionic Liquids
Protein & Peptide Letters, 2013In recent years, ionic liquids (ILs) represent a new class of biocompatible co-solvents for biomolecules. In this work, we report the apparent transfer free energies (ΔG'tr) for six amino acids (AA) from water to aqueous solutions of six ammonium based ILs (diethylammonium acetate (DEAA), diethylammonium sulfate (DEAS), triethyl ammonium acetate (TEAA),

Study on the Properties of Amino Acid Ionic Liquid EMIGly
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2006In terms of standard addition method, the density and surface tension of an amino acid ionic liquid EMIGly(1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium aminoacetate) were measured under dry argon atmosphere in the temperature range of 288.15-343.15 K. The properties of volume and surface for pure EMIGly were discussed in terms of the interstice model and Glasser's ...

Thermophysical Properties of Amino Acid-Based Ionic Liquids
Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 2009Ionic liquids (ILs) having either cations or anions derived from naturally occurring amino acids have been synthesized and characterized as amino acid-based ionic liquids (AAILs). In this work, the experimental measurements of the temperature dependence of density, viscosity, heat capacity, and thermal conductivity of several AAILs, namely ...

Ionic Liquid Crystals Derived from Amino Acids
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2013AbstractNovel chiral amino acid derived ionic liquid crystals with amine and amide moieties as spacers between the imidazolium head group and the alkyl chain were synthesised. The key step in the synthesis utilised the relatively uncommon SO3 leaving group in a microwave‐assisted reaction.

Mixtures of amino-acid based ionic liquids and water
Journal of Molecular Modeling, 2015New ionic liquids (ILs) involving increasing numbers of organic and inorganic ions are continuously being reported. We recently developed a new force field; in the present work, we applied that force field to investigate the structural properties of a few novel imidazolium-based ILs in aqueous mixtures via molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.

Microstructures of Choline Amino Acid based Biocompatible Ionic Liquids
The Chemical Record, 2023Abstract Bio‐compatible ionic liquids (Bio‐ILs) represent a class of solvents with peculiar properties and exhibit huge potential for their applications in different fields of chemistry. Ever since they were discovered, researchers have used bio‐ILs in diverse fields such as biomass dissolution, CO

Structure and Electronic Properties of Amino Acid Ionic Liquids
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2011The interactions between eight amino acid based anions and four imidazolium-based cations have been investigated by density functional theory. The electronic and structural properties of the resulting amino acid ionic liquids (AAILs) have been unveiled by means of the atoms in molecules framework. The calculated interaction energy was found to increase

Tuning the Carbon Dioxide Absorption in Amino Acid Ionic Liquids
ChemSusChem, 2016AbstractOne of the possible solutions to prevent global climate change is the reduction of CO2 emissions, which is highly desired for the sustainable development of our society. In this work, the chemical absorption of carbon dioxide in amino acid ionic liquids was studied through first‐principles methods.
