Molecular simulation of imidazolium amino acid-based ionic liquids
A series of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium amino acid ionic liquids (ILs) [Cnmim][Gly] were studied by molecular simulations based on the all-atom force field.

Absorption and capture of CO2 directly from sources represents one of the major tools to reduce its emission in the troposphere. One of the possibilities is to incorporate CO2 inside a liquid exploiting its propensity to react with amino groups to yield ...

Assessment of the toxicity and biodegradation of amino acid-based ionic liquids
This work evaluates the biodegradability, antimicrobial toxicity, and phytotoxicity of a series of amino acid-based ionic liquids (AAILs) with different cations and amino acid anions.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Novel Water-Based Biolubricants Using Choline Ionic Liquids
Ionic liquid molecules exhibit a variety of properties that are well suited for use as lubricants or additives for lubricants, since they form tribolayers that reduce friction and wear.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Phytotoxicity, Cytotoxicity, and Antimicrobial Activity of Triethanolammonium Amino Acids Salts
The growing use of ionic liquids (ILs) necessitates an understanding of their environmental impact and toxicity levels. In this study, a series of amino acid-based ionic liquids containing the triethanolammonium (TEA) cation were evaluated for their ...
