Implementation of Amino Acid as a Natural Feedstock in Production of N-Acylamides as a Biocompatible Surfactants: A Review on Synthesis, Behavioral, Application and Scale-up Process [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Chemistry Research, 2022
The use of surfactants is extremely widespread for human life. The development of the use of surfactants has not reached detergents anymore, but for drug delivery, biolubricant, emulsifier, cosmetics, enhanced oil recovery (EOR), dispersants and even ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Spectroscopic Studies of Amino Acid Ionic Liquid-Supported Schiff Bases [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2013
Amino acid ionic liquid-supported Schiff bases, derivatives of salicylaldehyde and various amino acids (L-threonine, L-valine, L-leucine, L-isoleucine and L-histidine) have been investigated by means of various spectroscopic techniques (NMR, UV-Vis, IR, MS) and deuterium isotope effects on 13C-NMR chemical shifts.

Optical modulation of high-affinity biomolecules function via photochromic dyes : a step towards an artificial control of biological activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Prior to this study, there has yet to be a clear demonstration of an artificial control of antibody affinity via photochromic dyes. The research described in this thesis sets out to address this by investigating photochromic dyes and their subsequent ...

Molecular dynamics simulation of dual amino-functionalized imidazolium-based ionic liquids

open access: yes, 2009
In this work, the all-atom (AA) force fields were set up for three kinds of dual amino-functionalized imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs), composed by cations with different alkyl chain length and amino acid anion [Gly](-). The force field was based on

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Thermal stability of choline based amino acid ionic liquids

open access: yes, 2018
Thermal stability of different choline based amino acid ionic liquids were studied. Both short term as well as long term thermal studies were carried out.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.
