Functional Analysis of Genes Encoding Putative Oxidoreductases in Aspergillus oryzae, Which Are Similar to Fungal Fructosyl-Amino Acid Oxidase

Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering, 2007
We found 11 genes (FAO1-11) encoding putative oxidoreductases in the Aspergillus oryzae genome, which are similar to fungal fructosyl-amino acid oxidases. The cDNAs corresponding to the genes were cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. rFao2 had fructosyl-amino acid oxidase activity, whereas rFao1 did not show any enzyme activity, even though the ...

Engineering Oxidoreductases: Utilization of an Unnatural Amino Acid to Create Artificial Hydrogenases

2011
Abstract : This report describes progress towards creating peptide-based artificial hydrogenases for interfacing with electrocatalytic applications. The goal of such catalysts is to create hydrogen production or oxidation systems. Basic research in two areas has been pursued.

Amino acid sequence of spinach ferredoxin:NADP oxidoreductase

Biochemistry, 1984
The amino acid sequence of spinach ferredoxin: NADP+ oxidoreductase was determined by using overlapping sets of peptides derived by cleavage at arginyl or methionyl residues. The protein from different preparations varied in its length at the amino terminus. In the longest form the amino terminus is blocked with a pyroglutamyl residue, as determined by

Amino acid composition of the enzyme NADPH: Protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase

Plant Science, 1987
Abstract The enzyme protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase (PCR) could be purified from Avena sativa plants by means of column chromatography and preparative gel electrophoresis. The amino acid composition of the protein was determined. The enzyme consists of 346 amino acids and has a molecular weight of approximately 37 800.

The amino acid sequence of the 9 kDa polypeptide and partial amino acid sequence of the 20 kDa polypeptide of mitochondrial NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase.

Journal of biochemistry, 1992
Mitochondrial NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex I) is the most complicated enzyme in the respiratory chain and is composed of at least 26 distinct polypeptides. Two hydrophilic subfractions of bovine heart complex I were systematically resolved into individual polypeptides by chromatography.

Ferredoxin: NADP oxidoreductase of Cyanophora paradoxa: Purification, partial characterization, and N-terminal amino acid sequence

Protein Expression and Purification, 1992
The ferredoxin:NADP+ oxidoreductase of the protist Cyanophora paradoxa, as a descendant of a former symbiotic consortium, an important model organism in view of the Endosymbiosis Theory, is the first enzyme purified from a formerly original endocytobiont (cyanelle) that is found to be encoded in the nucleus of the host.

Chemoenzymatic Synthesis of 4-Amino-2-hydroxy Acids:  A Comparison of Mutant and Wild-Type Oxidoreductases

The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 1998
We describe a new chemoenzymatic synthesis of enantiopure 4-amino-2-hydroxy acids using two biotransformations in a single-pot process in aqueous medium. These compounds are valuable as γ-turn mimics for investigations into the secondary structure of peptides.

Thermococcus profundus 2-Ketoisovalerate Ferredoxin Oxidoreductase, a Key Enzyme in the Archaeal Energy-Producing Amino Acid Metabolic Pathway

Journal of Biochemistry, 2005
2-Ketoisovalerate ferredoxin oxidoreductase (VOR) is a key enzyme in hyperthermophiles catalyzing the coenzyme A-dependent oxidative decarboxylation of mainly aliphatic amino acid-derived 2-keto acids. The very oxygen-labile enzyme purified under anaerobic conditions from a hyperthermophilic archaeon, Thermococcus profundus, is a hetero-octamer ...

Anaerobic transport of amino acids coupled to the glycerol-3-phosphate-fumarate oxidoreductase system in a cytochrome-deficient mutant of Escherichia coli

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Bioenergetics, 1976
The uptake of proline and glutamine by cytochrome-deficient cells of Escherichia coli SASX76 grown aerobically on glucose or anaerobically on pyruvate was stimulated by these two substrates. Pyruvate could not stimulate transport in the glucose-grown cells.
