Relating the metatranscriptome and metagenome of the human gut [PDF]
Although the composition of the human microbiome is now wellstudied, the microbiota’s \u3e8 million genes and their regulation remain largely uncharacterized.

Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

NAD(P)H:menadione oxidoreductase induction by polycyclic hydrocarbons is known to be governed by the aromatic hydrocarbon-responsive (Ah) locus. This cytosolic enzyme was isolated from 3-methylcholanthrene-treated rat liver by a rapid two-step procedure with the use of affinity gel purification and fast-protein liquid chromatography.

Schematic diagram depicting the fabrication and application of thymosin β4 (Tβ4)‐loaded microneedle patches for wound treatment. The Tβ4 was loaded into chitosan (CS) and sucrose MNs under mild conditions (4°C, 65% relative humidity). The Tβ4 MN patch specifically binds to the downregulated immune regulators Vsig4 and IL22rα2, thereby accelerating ...

Cytochrome b561 (cytb561) proteins comprise a family of transmembrane oxidoreductases that transfer single electrons across a membrane. Most eukaryotic species, including insects, possess multiple cytb561 homologs. To learn more about this protein family

Pancreatic adaptive responses in alcohol abuse: Role of the unfolded protein response. [PDF]
The majority of those who drink excessive amounts of alcohol do not develop pancreatic disease. One overarching hypothesis is that alcohol abuse requires additional risk factors, either environmental or genetic, for disease to occur.

Selenoprotein gene nomenclature [PDF]
The human genome contains 25 genes coding for selenocysteine-containing proteins (selenoproteins). These proteins are involved in a variety of functions, most notably redox homeostasis.

This study presents a new biodegradable coating for titanium implants using a natural antimicrobial peptide, caerin 1.9. Applied via solvent casting, the coating offers sustained antibacterial protection and promotes healing. Tested on 3D‐printed porous titanium scaffolds, it effectively prevented infection—including against resistant bacteria—while ...

Subunits of Bakers' Yeast Cytochrome b2 (
After reduction and carboxymethylation, crystallized cytochrome b2 has been separated by gel filtration into two main fractions and a minor one. The latter is probably an aggregate. The apparent molecular weight of the major fractions has been determined by acrylamide gel electrophoresis in the presence of 0.1% sodium dodecyl sulfate, and found to be ...
