True ileal amino acid digestibility and digestible indispensable amino acid scores (DIAASs) of cooked tropical peas

open access: yesFood Research International
Tropical peas can be used as both animal feed and human food but the nutritional quality of their proteins for humans is currently poorly documented. Here, 3 varieties of tropical peas were studied at two stages of seed maturity (green or dry): Cajanus Cajan (CC), Vigna Unguiculata (VU) and Lablab Purpureus (LP).

BLOOD AMINO ACID STUDIES: VI. USE OF PLASMA AMINO ACID SCORE FOR PREDICTING LIMITING AMINO ACID(S) IN DIETARY PROTEINS

Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1967
Male weanling rats were offered diets ad libitum 18 hours daily for 4–7 days. Protein sources included whole wheat, oatmeal, corn, rye, rice, millet, pea, soya, chick-pea, lentil, lima bean, navy bean, cottonseed, peanut, sesame, egg, fish, milk, and mixtures of animal and plant proteins.

Distance dependency and minimum amino acid alphabets for decoy scoring potentials

Journal of Computational Chemistry, 2012
AbstractThe validity and accuracy of a proposed tertiary structure of a protein can be assessed in several ways. Scoring such a structure by a knowledge‐based potential is a well‐known approach in molecular biophysics, an important task in structure prediction and refinement, and a key step in several experiments on protein structures. Although several

GPU Acceleration for Availability Scoring of Short Constituent Amino Acid Sequences

2015 Third International Symposium on Computing and Networking (CANDAR), 2015
Frequency-based availability analysis for short constituent amino acid sequences provides us with novel possibilities for genome informatics researches specially such as homology search and motif detection. However, it requires very long computation time because of the huge data size and combinatorial explosion.

Amino acid network and its scoring application in protein–protein docking

Biophysical Chemistry, 2008
Protein-protein complex, composed of hydrophobic and hydrophilic residues, can be divided into hydrophobic and hydrophilic amino acid network structures respectively. In this paper, we are interested in analyzing these two different types of networks and find that these networks are of small-world properties.

Response of Rats to Diets of Equal Chemical Score: Effect of Lysine or Threonine as the Limiting Amino Acid and of an Amino Acid Excess

The Journal of Nutrition, 1986
The effect of lysine or threonine deficiency with or without excesses of all other amino acids was evaluated in a 21-d feeding study with male rats. Four amino acid mixtures were designed to be first limiting for the rat in lysine or threonine and contained either 0 or 50% excess of nonlimiting amino acids.

Amino acid and fatty acid profile and digestible indispensable amino acid score of pasta fortified with salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) powder

European Food Research and Technology, 2018
Salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) is characterised by being rich in amino acids and long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) known for its health benefits. Pasta was prepared with different levels (5–20%) of salmon fish powder (SFP) and control made with semolina.

Digestible indispensable amino acid score (DIAAS) and protein digestibility corrected amino acid score (PDCAAS) in oat protein concentrate measured in 20‐ to 30‐kilogram pigs

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2017
AbstractBACKGROUNDOat protein concentrate is often used in human food, but the quality of this protein has not been characterized. Therefore, the objectives of this experiment were to determine the standardized ileal digestibility (SID) of crude protein (CP) and amino acids (AA) in oat protein concentrate and to determine differences in protein quality

Improvement of Protein-Compound Docking Scores by Using Amino-Acid Sequence Similarities of Proteins

Journal of Chemical Information and Modeling, 2008
The low accuracy of predicted docking scores is critical at in silico drug screening. In order to improve the accuracy of docking scores, we approximated the protein-compound binding free energy as a linear combination of the raw docking scores of a target compound with many different protein pockets.
