The Computer-Assisted Sequence Annotation (CASA) workflow for enzyme discovery. [PDF]

open access: yesAppl Plant Sci
Abstract Premise With the advent of inexpensive nucleic acid sequencing and automated annotation at the level of basic functionality, the central problem of enzyme discovery is no longer finding active sequences, it is determining which ones are suitable for further study.

Resilience of soil microbial activity and of amino acid dynamics to the removal of plant carbon inputs during winter Resiliência da atividade microbiana e da dinâmica de amino-ácidos na remoção das adições de carbono das plantas, durante o inverno

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2009
Many temperate agricultural soils have prolonged periods in the winter when plant carbon inputs to the soil are low. Soil maintained at low temperature in the absence of plants was used to simulate the conditions in a vineyard soil during winter.

Proton Relays in Molecular Catalysis for Hydrogen Evolution and Oxidation: Lessons From the Mimicry of Hydrogenases and Electrochemical Kinetic Analyses

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 136, Issue 52, December 20, 2024.
This review focuses on the role of proton relays at the active sites of hydrogenases, highlighting their significance in hydrogen evolution and oxidation. It then explores biomimetic and bioinspired systems containing such proton relays from the literature, discusses the electrochemical framework for enhancing catalysis, and identifies key parameters ...

Benign and Selective Amination of Lignins towards Aromatic Biobased Building Blocks with Primary Amines

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 136, Issue 41, October 7, 2024.
This research article presents two new benign methodologies to access reactive and soluble lignin‐based polyamines. The aminated lignin products have potential as renewable building blocks in aromatic polymeric materials or as potential chelating, antibacterial agents, for instance. Abstract Lignin is a widely available second‐generation biopolymer and
