The Use of Tranexamic Acid to Treat Melasma: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesDermatologic Therapy, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Introduction Tranexamic acid (TXA) is a synthetic derivative of the amino acid lysine that inhibits bleeding due to its effects on plasminogen conversion, approved by the FDA to treat menorrhagia and prevent bleeding in hemophilia patients undergoing dental extraction.

Designing Physical Unclonable Functions From Optically Active Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 49, December 10, 2025.
Assigning unforgeable “fingerprints” to manufactured goods is a key strategy to fight global counterfeiting. Optical physical unclonable functions (PUFs) are chemically generated random patterns of optically active materials serving as unique authenticators.

Lysosomal pH regulation in aging and neurodegenerative disease

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue S7, December 2025.
Abstract Background The lysosome is critical for maintaining normal protein homeostasis in cells and has been genetically implicated in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer's Disease and frontotemporal dementia. Lysosomes are normally highly acidic organelles and acidic lysosomal pH is critical for efficient macromolecular

The Lrs14‐Like AbfR1 Homolog From Metallosphaera sedula Is a Nucleoid‐Organizing Protein

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 14, Issue 5, October 2025.
Nucleoid organization in Crenarchaeota involves diverse small DNA‐binding proteins. The Lrs14‐type protein AbfR1 from Metallosphaera sedula binds nonsequence specifically across the genome and induces DNA condensation. These findings suggest a structural role for AbfR1Ms in chromatin architecture, functionally resembling bacterial nucleoid‐associated ...

Bioconversion of biomass: a case study of ligno-cellulosics bioconversions in solid state fermentation

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 1998
Lignocellulosic residues obtained from crops cultivation form useful sources to be used as substrate for bioconversion processes. Sugarcane bagasse, which is a complex substrate obtained from the processing of sugar cane, is an important biomass among ...

Non‐Classical Nitrogen Promoters for Rhodium‐Catalyzed Reductive Hydroformylation: New Efficient Way to Access Polyols From Linseed Oil

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, Volume 127, Issue 7, July 2025.
The reductive hydroformylation of linseed oil was carried out using a rhodium precursor associated with various nitrogen derivatives such as pyridines, imidazoles, trialkylamines, amidines, and guanidines. ABSTRACT The reductive hydroformylation reaction of polyunsaturated linseed oil using a rhodium precursor associated with a nitrogen compound from ...

Ebony (Phitecellobium flexicaule Benth) and proteins fractionation, solubilization, characterization and production of an isolate

open access: yesArchivos Latinoamericanos de Nutrición, 2003
SUMMARY. Different combinations of pHs (2 to 12) and temperatures (25, 30 and 35ºC) were tested to obtain a protein isolate from ebony (Pithecellobium flexicaule, Benth) seeds. Seed proteins contained 54.6% albumins, 32% globulins, 5.7% glutelins and 1.3%

Spartina alterniflora Ecosystem Stability: Insights Into the Interplay Between Soil Bacteria and Their Functional Traits

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2025.
In the late‐stage development of the two S. alterniflora‐invaded wetland systems, bacterial communities with higher diversity tend to be more stable, and the environmental factors are not the primary driver of stability. Keystone genera play both direct and indirect roles in regulating bacteriome stability.
