Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Research Progress of Amino Acid Metabolism PET Imaging in Tumor

open access: yesJournal of Isotopes, 2015
Amino acid metabolism PET imaging plays a very important role in metabolism molecular imaging. Amino acid PET tracers include [1-11C]amino acid, labeling α-C amino acid, labeling side-chain amino acid, and N-substituted labeling amino acid.

Gut amino acid absorption in humans: Concepts and relevance for postprandial metabolism

open access: yesClinical Nutrition Open Science, 2021
Summary: Dietary amino acid absorption kinetics are an important determinant of protein quality. The term “amino acid digestibility” is commonly used to refer to the amount of ingested amino acids that become available following absorption.

Effect of Benzothiadiazole Treatment during Veraison on Amino Acid Composition, Degradation and Metabolism in ‘Chardonnay’ Grape [PDF]

open access: yesShipin Kexue
In order to explore the effect of benzothiadiazole (BTH) treatment on amino acid accumulation, degradation and metabolism during the growth of grape fruits, ‘Chardonnay’ grape berries at veraison were sprayed with BTH at 50 mg/L and plucked once every 10

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Urinary Screening for Aminoacidurias Using Chromatography and Serum Amino Acid Profile in Type 2 Diabetes and Healthy Controls

open access: yesBiochemistry Research International
Type 2 diabetes is a complex metabolic disorder characterised by altered amino acid metabolism. This study investigates plasma amino acid profiles and specific aminoacidurias in patients with type 2 diabetes.
