Our data show that suppressing IRF2, genetically or by siRNA, modulates PD‐L1 and MHC‐I levels. This induced immune‐evasive state critically underlies the significantly prolonged survival of cardiac allografts, revealing a novel therapeutic avenue.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

From Angiotensin IV to Small Peptidemimetics Inhibiting Insulin-Regulated Aminopeptidase
It was reported three decades ago that intracerebroventricular injection of angiotensin IV (Ang IV, Val-Tyr-Ile-His-Pro-Phe) improved memory and learning in the rat. There are several explanations for these positive effects of the hexapeptide and related

X-ray Crystallographic Characterization of the Co(II)-substituted Tris-bound Form of the Aminopeptidase from \u3cem\u3eAeromonas proteolytica\u3c/em\u3e [PDF]
The X-ray crystal structure of the Co(II)-loaded form of the aminopeptidase from Aeromonas proteolytica ([CoCo(AAP)]) was solved to 2.2 Å resolution. [CoCo(AAP)] folds into an α/β globular domain with a twisted β-sheet hydrophobic core sandwiched between

Ankylosing Spondylitis: a trade Off of HLA-B27, ERAP, and pathogen interconnections? Focus on Sardinia [PDF]
The frequency of HLA-B27 in patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) is over 85%. There are more than 170 recognized HLA-B27 alleles but the majority of them is not sufficiently represented for genetic association studies.

The Proteomics of N-terminal Methionine Cleavage [PDF]
Methionine aminopeptidase (MAP) is a ubiquitous, essential enzyme involved in protein N-terminal methionine excision. According to the generally accepted cleavage rules for MAP, this enzyme cleaves all proteins with small side chains on the residue in ...

On-target, dual aminopeptidase inhibition provides cross-species antimalarial activity
To combat the global burden of malaria, development of new drugs to replace or complement current therapies is urgently required. Here, we show that the compound MMV1557817 is a selective, nanomolar inhibitor of both Plasmodium falciparum and Plasmodium ...
