Analysis of the effects of a tricyclic antidepressant on secondary sleep disturbance induced by chronic pain in a preclinical model.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020

Exposure to CYP2C19‐metabolized drugs following acute stroke: A longitudinal cohort study to inform implementation of CYP2C19 genotype testing

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Cytochrome P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) genotype testing is recommended to guide antiplatelet selection after ischaemic stroke and transient ischaemic attack. CYP2C19 also metabolizes several commonly prescribed non‐antiplatelet drugs. We aimed to quantify exposure to CYP2C19‐metabolized drugs in stroke patients at hospital discharge and during ...

Characterization of Lysosomal Hydrolases and Transporters and Their Age‐Dependent Variability: Relevance to Drug Metabolism and Transport of Small Molecule and Biologic Drugs

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Lysosomes play a key role in the accumulation, catabolism, and transport of endogenous and exogenous metabolites and proteins and are involved in drug metabolism and prodrug activation. However, the protein abundance and interindividual variability of lysosomal drug‐metabolizing enzymes and transporters (DMETs) remain underexplored.

Exploring Cerumen as an Alternative Matrix for Drug Detection and Quantification: Method Development and Application in Clinical Samples

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
An LC–MS/MS method was developed for the detection of 33 psychoactive medications in cerumen (earwax) and applied to the samples of 60 psychiatric inpatient volunteers. The findings highlighted the utility of cerumen as an innovative biospecimen in clinical toxicological analysis.

Psychopharmacological Prescribing Patterns Among Italian Adolescents With Anorexia Nervosa: Exploring Real‐World Treatment Practices

open access: yesEuropean Eating Disorders Review, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate real‐world psychopharmacological prescribing patterns among Italian adolescents with anorexia nervosa (AN) compared with psychiatric controls without eating disorders, and to examine whether AN diagnosis independently predicts medication use after accounting for psychiatric comorbidities.

Pharmacokinetics of Amitriptyline Demethylation;A Crossover Study with Single Doses of Amitriptyline and Nortriptyline [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
A single dose crossover pharmacokinetic study of amitriptyline and nortriptyline was done to find out the extent of first-pass metabolism to nortriptyline after amitripyline administration, and the contribution of nortriptyline during amitriptyline ...
