NITROGEN CYCLING IN A FOREST STREAM DETERMINED BY A 15N TRACER ADDITION [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Nitrogen uptake and cycling was examined using a six‐week tracer addition of 15N‐labeled ammonium in early spring in Walker Branch, a first‐order deciduous forest stream in eastern Tennessee.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Solid transformations as a variant of three-dimention nanotechnology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The given article discusses a variant of natural nanotechnology in a volume material under solid-phase transformation. The article provides results on acoustic splitting in ammonium oxide NH4ClO4 in the low-temperature region.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

The effect of rewarming media composition on the ammonia detoxification ability of cold preserved rat hepatocytes

open access: yesAnnals of Hepatology, 2002
We examined how different media composition of rewarming solutions affected ammonium detoxification function, urea synthesis and the viability of hepatocytes after 72 hs of cold storage in UW solution.

Impact of Adding Anaerobic Digestate to Soil and Consequences on Crop Performance

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
Anaerobic digestate is proposed as an alternative to inorganic fertilisers, but a better understanding of how anaerobic digestates impact the soil and how plant growth is influenced is needed for wider acceptance.

Influence of presence of ammonium in the hydrothermal illitization of smectite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
During diagenesis, several reactions induce changes both in phyllosilicates and organic matter, which in basins associated to the production of hydrocarbons leads to ammonium fixation in illite and micas [1] and to dissolution induced by organic acids [

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
