Nitrogen compounds and enzyme activities in sorghum induced to water deficit during three stages
The aim of this study was to evaluate and explicate the changes in the nitrogen compounds and enzyme activities in Sorghum bicolor plants (cv. BR-700) submitted to water deficit during vegetative, reproductive and maturation stages.

Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Molybdenum supply increases 15N-nitrate uptake by maize
Nitrogen (N) is widely used in maize (Zea mays L.) production. The supply of molybdenum (Mo) can increase the recovery of N by the plant due to the role of this micronutrient in the assimilation of nitrate through nitrate reductase (NR).

Soil mineral nitrogen and the rating of CaCl2 extractable nutrients
It was assumed that the determination of the mineral nitrogen (Nmin) content in the 0.01 mol/L CaCl2 could rely on measurements of single form NO3--N, NH4+-N or both, and even including other extractable nutrients.

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.
