The RNA‐Binding Protein PARN Remodeled 3′ UTR Structure Defines Poly(A)‐Loading Sites to Mediate Immunoglobulin Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Class Switch Recombination (CSR) is essential for generating high‐affinity antibody isotypes from IgM during adaptive humoral responses. Despite well‐established roles for various transcription factors, whether CSR is subject to dedicated post‐transcriptional control represents a significant gap in knowledge.

Characterization and transmission of plasmid-mediated multidrug resistance in foodborne Vibrio parahaemolyticus

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
ObjectivesThe purpose of this study was to determine the structural features and transferability of the multidrug-resistance (MDR) plasmid, and resistance phenotypes for the tested antimicrobials in foodborne Vibrio parahaemolyticus.MethodsPlasmids were ...

A Plug‐and‐Play Platform for Customizing Multivalent Degraders and Degrader‐Drug Conjugates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Membrane proteins remain challenging targets for conventional TPD approaches. Here, the authors develop UPTAB, a modular platform leveraging ultrahigh‐affinity orthogonal Im/CL protein pairs for lysosomal degradation of membrane proteins. Mono‐targeted (Type‐I), dual‐targeted (Type‐II), and tri‐targeted (Type‐III) UPTABs enable simultaneous degradation

Multidrug-resistant Commensal Escherichia coli in Children, Peru and Bolivia

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2006
Using a rapid screening method, we investigated the prevalence of fecal carriage of antimicrobial drug–resistant Escherichia coli in 3,174 healthy children from 4 urban settings in Peru and Bolivia. High resistance rates were observed for ampicillin (95%)

Ampicillin-resistant Hemophilus influenzae.

open access: yesThe Western journal of medicine, 1978
Ampicillin-resistant Hemophilus influenzae had not been identified in Fresno, California, before June 1976. In the 12 months that followed, eight resistant type B strains and three resistant nontypable isolates were cultured from patients treated at two hospitals that provide nearly all of the acute pediatric inpatient care for the area.

ZDHHC17‐Mediated CDK4 Palmitoylation Drives Cell Cycle Progression and Orchestrates Cancer Immune Surveillance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ZDHHC17 palmitoylates CDK4, which together with TRAF6‐mediated ubiquitination, drives cell cycle progression and immune surveillance, revealing a rational combination of CDK4 inhibitors with immune checkpoint blockers for ZDHHC17‐driven cancers. ABSTRACT Uncontrolled cell cycle progression is a hallmark of cancer, tightly regulated by both intrinsic ...

RNF138‐Mediated Ubiquitination and Degradation of NS5 Restricts Tick‐Borne Encephalitis Virus Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Host‐specific compatibility between RNF138‐like proteins and flavivirus NS5 determines NS5 stability. Mammalian RNF138 but not arthropod homologs recognizes and induces conserved NS5/RdRp K48‐linked ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation, thereby restricting viral replication. Ectopic RNF138 in mice attenuates TBEV‐induced pathogenesis. (Created in

Evolutionary trajectories of β-lactam resistance in Enterococcus faecalis strains

open access: yesmBio
Resistance to ampicillin and imipenem in Enterococcus faecalis is infrequent. However, the evolution of resistance can occur through prolonged antibiotic exposure during the treatment of chronic infections.

Multi‐Targeting Carnosic Acid Kills Drug‐Resistant Helicobacter pylori With Narrow‐Spectrum Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Carnosic acid selectively eradicates drug‐resistant Helicobacter pylori through a multi‐targeted mechanism involving urease inhibition, membrane disruption, and biofilm eradication. It exhibits no detectable resistance, potent in vivo efficacy, and minimal impact on gut microbiota, positioning it as a promising narrow‐spectrum lead compound against ...

Single nucleotide polymorphisms in genes encoding penicillin-binding proteins in β-lactamase-negative ampicillin-resistant Haemophilus influenzae in Japan

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2018
Objective β-Lactamase-negative ampicillin-resistant Haemophilus influenzae is a common opportunistic pathogen of hospital- and community-acquired infections, harboring multiple single nucleotide polymorphisms in the ftsI gene, which codes for penicillin ...
