Occupational Contact Urticaria, Protein Contact Dermatitis and Concomitant Airway Diseases in the Finnish Register of Occupational Diseases in 2005–2020: Main Causes and Occupations at Risk

This Finnish registry study shows that concomitant occupational asthma and rhinitis are common in patients with occupational contact urticaria or protein contact dermatitis, often sharing the same exposure. When evaluating occupational immediate allergy, both skin and airway symptoms should be considered.

Summary Background Wheat‐dependent exercise‐induced anaphylaxis (WDEIA) occurs after ingestion of wheat/gluten in the presence of various cofactors. Here, we characterized the sensitization spectrum to various wheat flours, as revealed by skin prick test (SPT) and specific IgE (sIgE) against wheat flour, gluten, and various wheat components.

Management of an uncommon complication using botulinum toxin type A following prosthetic laryngoplasty

Summary An uncommon complication following prosthetic laryngoplasty was reported in a 4‐year‐old Andalusian mare. The mare was presented with a previously diagnosed left‐sided recurrent laryngeal neuropathy, after initial evaluation the mare underwent ventriculocordectomy and prosthetic laryngoplasty.

Discovery of a cryptic aminoacidic triad involved in the temperature adaptation of GH1 enzymes

Cold‐active enzymes retain high catalytic activity at low temperatures but are characterized by thermal instability, a behavior not fully understood. Comparison between a cold‐active GH1 and its mesophilic counterparts highlights the role of a three‐residue motif (W‐M‐F) in conferring structural stability to a mesophilic GH1.
