A structural basis for amylin receptor phenotype
Science, 2022Amylin receptors (AMYRs) are heterodimers of the calcitonin (CT) receptor (CTR) and one of three receptor activity–modifying proteins (RAMPs), AMY1R, AMY2R, and AMY3R.

Amylin as a potential link between type 2 diabetes and alzheimer disease
Annals of Neurology, 2019Alzheimer disease (AD) is the leading cause of dementia, and although its etiology remains unclear, it seems that type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and other prediabetic states of insulin resistance could contribute to the appearance of sporadic AD.

Amylin modulates a VTA to mPFC circuit to suppress food intake and impulsive food-directed behavior.
Biological Psychiatry, 2023BACKGROUND A better understanding of the neural mechanisms regulating impaired satiety to palatable foods is essential to treat hyperphagia linked with obesity.

Amylin is a 37 amino-acid peptide which is secreted from the pancreatic islets of Langerhans. It has major sequence homology with calcitonin gene related peptide. Amylin can precipitate out in these cells to form amyloid. Amylin is secreted by similar stimuli to those that secrete insulin.

Clinical Implications of Amylin and Amylin Deficiency
The Diabetes Educator, 1999PURPOSE this paper presents an overview of the physiology of glycemic control and the mechanisms of amylin deficiency in people with diabetes. Benefits of replacement therapy with both pramlintide and insulin are discussed. METHODS The discovery of the pancreatic p-cell hormone amylin, which is cosecreted with insulin in response to hyperglycemia ...
