The globular shape and hydrophobicity of zein made it unsuitable to be processed in pure aqueous environment. Pepsin‐mediated hydrolysis converts zein into water‐soluble and fibril‐forming peptides with a bioconversion rate exceeding 70%, enabling the self‐assembly of amyloid‐like nanofibrils.

Neuronal C/EBPβ Shortens the Lifespan via Inactivating NAMPT
Schematic diagram illustrating the mechanism of shortened lifespan in Thy 1‐C/EBPβ transgenic mice and intervention strategies. Briefly, C/EBPβ/AEP escalation in the aging brain triggers NAMPT fragmentation and NAD+ depletion. Knockout of AEP from Thy 1‐C/EBPβ Tg/Tg mice ameliorates cognitive impairments and elongates the lifespan.

Thermodynamic Description of Beta Amyloid Formation [PDF]
Protein function depends on both protein structure and amino acid (aa) sequence. Here we show that modular features of both structure and function can be quantified from the aa sequences alone for the small (40,42 aa) plaque-forming amyloid beta fragments. Some edge and center features of the fragments are predicted. Contrasting results from the second

Occlusion of tumor blood vessels represents a promising yet challenging approach in cancer treatment. Herein, supramolecularly engineered platelets conjugated with morphology‐transformable nanoparticles is developed for precise tumor embolization. The engineered platelets actively accumulate at tumor sites following induced blood vessel injury.

Quantum Resources Required for Binding Affinity Calculations of Amyloid beta [PDF]
Amyloid beta, an intrinsically disordered protein, plays a seemingly important but not well-understood role in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease. A key feature of amyloid beta, which could lead to potential therapeutic intervention pathways, is its binding affinity to certain metal centers, like iron and copper.

Abstract Ocular allergies are becoming more prevalent as more airborne pollutants, irritants and microbes pervade our environment. Inflammatory and allergic mediators released by dendritic and mast cells within the conjunctiva cause allergic conjunctivitis (AC), a prevalent ocular surface disorder that affects >40% of the world's human population on a ...
