Proteomic Insight Into Alzheimer's Disease Pathogenesis Pathways

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a leading cause of dementia, but the pathogenesis mechanism is still elusive. Advances in proteomics have uncovered key molecular mechanisms underlying AD, revealing a complex network of dysregulated pathways, including amyloid metabolism, tau pathology, apolipoprotein E (APOE), protein degradation ...

Top‐Down Proteomics: Why and When?

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Manifold biological processes at all levels of transcription and translation can lead to the formation of a high number of different protein species (i.e., proteoforms), which outnumber the sequences encoded in the genome by far. Due to the large number of protein molecules formed in this way, which span an enormous range of different ...

Mathematical Modeling of Neuroinflammation in Neurodegenerative Diseases

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Age‐related neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD) are an increasing public health concern. Whereas the pathology of these diseases is complex, chronic central inflammation, or neuroinflammation, is commonly observed across many neurodegenerative diseases ...

KLVFF Functionalized Graphene Oxide for Aβ42 Peptide Electrical Detection: A Promising Nanomaterial for the Development of Alzheimer's Disease Diagnostic Devices

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
An electrical transduction sensor (GO@peg4‐KLVFF) deposited by DEP, based on graphene oxide, suitably functionalized for the detection of Aβ42, one of the main Alzheimer's disease biomarkers is proposed. The detection activity is established on the measurement of the electrical resistance change induced by the specific interaction occurring between the

Nose‐to‐Brain Delivery of Acyl‐Ghrelin Peptide Gold Nanoconjugates for Treatment of Neurodegenerative Diseases

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Intranasal delivery of acyl‐ghrelin using gold nanorods (AuNRs) is investigated as a strategy for treating neurodegenerative diseases. Acyl‐ghrelin is conjugated to AuNRs under optimized conditions that preserve its bioactivity and prevent nanoparticle cross‐linking.
