Anaerobic co-digestion of leachate and glycerol for renewable energy generation
Environmental Technology, 2020Anaerobic digestion is a versatile biotechnology that produces bioenergy, biogas, from wastewater. Biogas production and wastewater treatment can be optimized by associating substrates with complementary characteristics. In this context, the aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of the anaerobic co-digestion of different contents of ...

Thermophilic anaerobic co-digestion of poultry litter and thin stillage
Bioresource Technology, 2013The purpose of this study was to test whether the performance of a thermophilic CSTR digester that has been stabilized on poultry litter will be enhanced or diminished by the addition of thin stillage as co-substrate. Replicate laboratory digesters, derived from a stable pilot-scale digester, were operated with increasing ratios (w/w) of thin stillage ...

Feasibility of anaerobic co-digestion of poultry blood with maize residues
Bioresource Technology, 2013The potential of anaerobic digestion for the treatment of poultry blood was evaluated in batch assays at laboratory scale and in a mesophilic semi-continuously fed digester. The biodegradability test performed on poultry blood waste showed a strong inhibition.

Investigation on the anaerobic co-digestion of food waste with sewage sludge
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2017In this laboratory-scale investigation on the applicability of the co-digestion of food waste with sewage sludge, evaluated were the effects of the single-stage versus two-stage operating modes at the hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 15 days, and the impact of HRTs: 15 days vs. 25 days, on the single-stage operation.

Anaerobic co-digestion of septage and landfill leachate
Bioresource Technology, 1999Abstract This paper examines the operating parameters and treatment efficiency in digestion of septage with landfill leachate. Four lab-scale CSTR digesters were operated at 35 ± 1°C. Septage and leachate were mixed at the ratio of 1:0, 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 on the basis of chemical oxygen demand (COD).

Feasibility of anaerobic co-digestion of pig waste and paper sludge
Bioresource Technology, 2012Pig waste (PW) and paper sludge (PS) possess complementary properties that can be combined for successful anaerobic digestion. Biochemical methane potential (BMP) tests revealed that a PW:PS 3:1 (v/v) ratio had the highest normalized CH(4)-COD removal (54%), while PS had the lowest value (11%) and PW had 44%.

[Anaerobic co-digestion of corn stalk and vermicompost].
Huan jing ke xue= Huanjing kexue, 2011The characteristics of corn stalk digested alone at different total solid (TS) loading rates and co-digestion of various proportions of corn stalk and vermicompost were investigated by batch model at 35 degrees C +/- 1 degrees C. The organic loading rates (OLRs) studied were in the range of 1.2%-6.0% TS and increasing proportions of vermicompost from ...
