Potential of Agricultural Plantations and Orchards to Support Understory Forest Bird Diversity in Southeast Asia

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study assessed the potential of monoculture oil palm and rubber tree plantations, as well as polyculture orchards, to support understory bird diversity compared to forest reserves using mist‐netting. Orchards recorded the highest bird abundance and richness among agricultural lands, but all agricultural lands had less than half the understory bird

Optimal Conditions for Bromelain Extraction from Pineapple Fruit (Ananas comosus)

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2016
Bromelain is a cysteine protease which is found in the tissues of Bromeliacea plant family of which pineapple Ananas cosmossus is best known. The investigated parameters for optimal Brome-lain extraction are optimum buffers, pH, Molarity, time, and amounts of husk free pineapple fruit to volume (ml) of buffer ratio. Sodium phosphate was best buffer for
