Prediction of Structural Stability of Layered Oxide Cathode Materials: Combination of Machine Learning and Ab Initio Thermodynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we developed a phase‐stability predictor by combining machine learning and ab initio thermodynamics approaches, and identified the key factors determining the favorable phase for a given composition. Specifically, a lower TM ionic potential, higher Na content, and higher mixing entropy favor the O3 phase.

Electronic Structure of Strongly Correlated Systems

open access: yesAdvances in Condensed Matter Physics, 2011
The article reviews the rich phenomena of metal-insulator transitions, anomalous metalicity, taking as examples iron and titanium oxides. The diverse phenomena include strong spin and orbital fluctuations, incoherence of charge dynamics, and phase ...

Anomalous diffusion and generalized Sparre-Andersen scaling

open access: yes, 2009
We are discussing long-time, scaling limit for the anomalous diffusion composed of the subordinated L\'evy-Wiener process. The limiting anomalous diffusion is in general non-Markov, even in the regime, where ensemble averages of a mean-square ...

Does Contract Farming Improve Diet Quality? The Case of Senegalese Smallholders

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The institution of contract farming has gained prominence in most developing countries owing to its numerous benefits. While several studies have already highlighted the welfare benefits of contract farming, very few have investigated the effects on diet quality, despite poor quality diets being a serious challenge in most parts of the ...

Safety of antenatal breastmilk expression from week 34 of pregnancy: a randomized controlled pilot study (The Express-MOM study)

open access: yesMaternal Health, Neonatology and Perinatology
Background Mother’s own milk (MOM) is important as the first nutrition for preterm infants, but mothers often struggle to initiate milk production right after preterm birth.

The relation between the structure of blocked clusters and the relaxation dynamics in kinetically-constrained models

open access: yes, 2015
We investigate the relation between the cooperative length and the relaxation time, represented respectively by the culling time and the persistence time, in the Fredrickson-Andersen, Kob-Andersen and spiral kinetically-constrained models. By mapping the

Cooperative Behavior of Kinetically Constrained Lattice Gas Models of Glassy Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Kinetically constrained lattice models of glasses introduced by Kob and Andersen (KA) are analyzed. It is proved that only two behaviors are possible on hypercubic lattices: either ergodicity at all densities or trivial non-ergodicity, depending on the ...

Effects of Environmental and Health Information on Willingness to Pay for Local and Organic Foods in Taiwan

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Using a lab‐in‐the‐field experiment, we investigate how providing information about food miles and pesticide residue influences willingness to pay (WTP) for potatoes among 407 shoppers in Taiwan, split between a supermarket and a farmers market.

Clinical outcome is unlinked to injection of adipose-derived regenerative cells in the axilla of breast cancer-related lymphedema patients

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy
Background Injection of autologous adipose-derived regenerative cells (ADRCs) combined with lipotransfer has been suggested to alleviate symptoms in diseases including breast cancer-related lymphedema (BCRL). We recently performed a randomized controlled
