Comparison of discussion-based and simulation-based learning methods using the Gas Man® on knowledge of the uptake and distribution of inhalation anesthetics of anesthesia resident: A randomized controlled trial

open access: yesJournal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology
Background and Aims: Inhalation anesthetics is basic knowledge that must be mastered by an anesthesiologist. Lack of competencies can result in higher morbidity and mortality in anesthesiology practice.

Legumain Restrains Granuloma Formation by Inhibiting mTORC1/STAT1‐Mediated M1 Macrophage Polarization in Sarcoidosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Legumain (LGMN) is upregulated in macrophages during sarcoid‑like granuloma formation. Macrophage‑derived LGMN binds to integrin αvβ3 and suppresses mTORC1/STAT1 signaling to restrain M1 macrophage polarization. Intratracheal delivery of lipid nanoparticles carrying Lgmn plasmid DNA (pDNA) elevates LGMN expression and effectively attenuates pulmonary ...

Nitrous Oxide: Mechanism of Its Antinociceptive Action [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Nitrous oxide (N2O) is an anesthetic gas known to produce an analgesic effect at sub-anesthetic concentrations. This analgesic property of N2O can be clinically exploited in a broad range of conditions where pain relief is indicated.

Effects of sevoflurane and desflurane on the nociceptive responses of substantia gelatinosa neurons in the rat spinal cord dorsal horn: An in vivo patch-clamp analysis

open access: yesMolecular Pain, 2020
Background Volatile anesthetics suppress noxiously evoked activity in the spinal dorsal horn, which could contribute in part to analgesia, immobility. Modulation of excitatory and inhibitory synaptic transmission in substantia gelatinosa neurons could ...

A Circuit of Mechanically Regulated Transcription Factors Balances Regenerative and Fibrotic Memory of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Producing MSCs on rigid culture substrates induces a scar‐making phenotype, jeapordizing therapeutic success. ‘Tissue‐soft’ surfaces prevent MSC fibrogenesis and preserve regenerative traits. An epigenetic network, driven by HOXA11 and SALL1, maintains ‘soft memory’ by keeping chromatin open in relaxed MSCs, promoting anti‐fibrotic programs.

Comparison of dermal and inhalation routes of entry for organic chemicals [PDF]

open access: yes
The quantitative comparison of the chemical concentration inside the body as the result of a dermal exposure versus an inhalation exposure is useful for assessing human health risks and deciding on an appropriate protective posture.

Neuroprotective Properties of Xenon. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Xenon is a rare noble gas that was introduced into clinical practice more than 70 years ago. Xenon's clinical properties are predicated by its ability to fit into preformed cavities of macromolecules thereby altering their biological functions.

Comparative analysis of the effects of inhalational and intravenous anesthetics on hemodynamic variability and cardiovascular complications in patients undergoing general anesthesia – a review of current evidence

open access: yesJournal of Education, Health and Sport
Background. Patient hemodynamic stability during general anesthesia is a crucial factor, managing which helps avoid many complications, especially cardiovascular ones. Intravenous and inhaled anesthetics affect the human body differently, have different
