Expression of mutant TIE2 p.L914F during mouse development causes embryonic lethality and defects in vascular remodeling

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Sporadic venous malformation (VM) is associated with the hyperactivating p.L914F mutation in TIE2, a receptor tyrosine kinase essential for vascular development. This mutation is not found in hereditary VM, suggesting incompatibility with life when expressed during early vascular development.

Designer lipid-like peptides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A crucial bottleneck in membrane protein studies, particularly G-protein coupled receptors, is the notorious difficulty of finding an optimal detergent that can solubilize them and maintain their stability and function. Here we report rapid production of

Systemic aging fuels heart failure: Molecular mechanisms and therapeutic avenues

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1059-1080, April 2025.
Abstract Systemic aging influences various physiological processes and contributes to structural and functional decline in cardiac tissue. These alterations include an increased incidence of left ventricular hypertrophy, a decline in left ventricular diastolic function, left atrial dilation, atrial fibrillation, myocardial fibrosis and cardiac ...

Angiopoietin-like protein 2 and angiopoietin-like protein 6 levels in patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Introduction: The aim of the current study was to examine the difference between patients detected with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and healthy subjects in terms of serum angiopoietin-like protein (ANGPTL) 2 and ANGPTL6 levels and to ...

High serum angiopoietin-like protein-4 levels are associated with gestational hypertension and preeclampsia: a case-control study

open access: yesTürk Biyokimya Dergisi
Investigation of angiopoietin-like protein-4 (ANGPTL-4) and vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A) levels as a biochemical marker in gestational hypertension (GH) and preeclampsia (PE), which are known to have important roles in the maintenance of

Lean ZSF1 rats in basic research on heart failure with preserved ejection fraction

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1474-1478, April 2025.
Abstract Aims ZSF1 obese rats harbouring two mutant leptin receptor alleles (Leprcp and Leprfa) develop metabolic syndrome and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), making them a widely used animal model in cardiometabolic research.

Angiopoietin-like protein 4 is a potent hyperlipidemia-inducing factor in mice and inhibitor of lipoprotein lipase

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2002
Studies with KK/San, obese and diabetic model mice having a unique hypotriglyceridemia phenotype, revealed that angiopoietin-like protein 3 (ANGPTL3) regulates lipid metabolism in mice.

Inconsistent Transcriptomic Responses to Hexabromocyclododecane in Japanese Quail: A Comparative Analysis of Results From Four Different Study Designs

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology and Chemistry, EarlyView.
Abstract Efforts to use transcriptomics for toxicity testing have classically relied on the assumption that chemicals consistently produce characteristic transcriptomic signatures that are reflective of their mechanism of action. However, the degree to which transcriptomic responses are conserved across different test methodologies has seldom been ...

Angiopoietin-like 4 (Angptl4) protein is a physiological mediator of intracellular lipolysis in murine adipocytes. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2012
Intracellular triacylglycerol (TG) hydrolysis and fatty acid release by the white adipose tissue (WAT) during a fast is stimulated by counter-regulatory factors acting in concert, although how adipocytes integrate these lipolytic inputs is unknown.

Acute-phase protein alpha1-antitrypsin--a novel regulator of angiopoietin-like protein 4 transcription and secretion

open access: yes, 2014
Item does not contain fulltextThe angiopoietin-like protein 4 (angptl4, also known as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor [PPAR]gamma-induced angiopoietin-related protein) is a multifunctional protein associated with acute-phase response.
