Expression of angiotensin-converting enzyme and angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 in patients with chronic heart failure [PDF]
Background It has been reported that angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) is an endogenous counterregulator of the rennin angiotensin aldosterone system (RAAS). However, the role of ACE2 in the development of human heart failure is not well established. Methods and

Neuromodulation by selective angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 inhibitors
Here, neuromodulatory effects of selective angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) inhibitors were investigated. Two different types of small molecule ligands for ACE2 inhibition were selected using chemical genetic approach, they were synthesized using developed chemical method and tested using presynaptic rat brain nerve terminals (synaptosomes).

Adenoviral delivery of angiotensin-(1-7) or angiotensin-(1-9) inhibits cardiomyocyte hypertrophy via the mas or angiotensin Type 2 receptor [PDF]
The counter-regulatory axis of the renin angiotensin system peptide angiotensin-(1-7) [Ang-(1-7)] has been identified as a potential therapeutic target in cardiac remodelling, acting via the mas receptor.

Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme 2 Gene Expression in Breast Tissue
Objective:Binding to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor is a critical step for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARSCoV- 2) to mediate its entry into target cells. ACE2 is expressed in many human tissues, including the lungs.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

The Role of Glutathione in Protecting against the Severe Inflammatory Response Triggered by COVID-19
The novel COVID-19 pandemic is affecting the world’s population differently: mostly in the presence of conditions such as aging, diabetes and hypertension the virus triggers a lethal cytokine storm and patients die from acute respiratory distress ...
