Gene Polymorphism of Angiotensin II Type 1 and Type 2 Receptors

Current Pharmaceutical Design, 2013
Renin-angiotensin system (RAS) plays a key role in pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease and in the responsiveness for various types of medications. A large number of genetic investigations have been carried out to examine the association between gene variants of RAS and predisposition to cardiovascular diseases, such as hypertension, coronary artery ...

The angiotensin II type 2 receptor: an enigma with multiple variations

American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2000
Since it was discovered ten years ago, the angiotensin II (ANG II) type 2 (AT2) receptor has been an enigma. This receptor binds ANG II with a high affinity but is not responsible for mediating any of the classical physiological actions of this peptide, all of which involve the ANG II type 1 (AT1) receptor.

Angiotensin II type 2 receptors: signalling and pathophysiological role

Current Opinion in Nephrology and Hypertension, 2001
The signalling mechanisms and biological significance of the angiotensin II type 2 receptor have long been unknown. In recent years, studies, first in cell culture models but now increasingly also in vivo, have shed some light on the molecular events occurring after a stimulation of the receptor with its ligand as well as on its physiological effects ...

Transcription of the Rat Angiotensin II Type 2 Receptor Gene

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1996
The promoter region of the rat angiotensin II type 2 receptor gene was cloned and the nucleotide sequences were determined. A computer homology search for a 1.2 Kb promoter region showed that there are several consensus cis DNA elements such as C/EBP, NF-IL6, GRE and AP1 in this region.

Crystal structure of the human angiotensin II type 2 receptor bound to an angiotensin II analog

Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, 2018
Angiotensin II (AngII) plays a central role in regulating human blood pressure, which is mainly mediated by interactions between AngII and the G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) AngII type 1 receptor (AT1R) and AngII type 2 receptor (AT2R). We have solved the crystal structure of human AT2R binding the peptide ligand [Sar1, Ile8]AngII and its specific

Angiotensin II type 1 and type 2 receptors bind angiotensin II through different types of epitope recognition

Journal of Hypertension, 1999
This study was designed to demonstrate that the principle of molecular recognition underlying high-affinity binding of angiotensin II to the type 2 (AT2) receptor is distinct from that of the type 1 (AT1) receptor. In general, the same functional pharmacophores in hormones are used to bind and activate different subtypes of cell surface receptors ...

Role of Type 1 and Type 2 Angiotensin Receptors in Angiotensin II–Induced Cardiomyocyte Hypertrophy

Hypertension, 1996
We compared the ability of angiotensin II (Ang II) to induce hypertrophy of neonatal rat ventricular myocytes with that of endothelin-1. Over 72 hours, Ang II (1 μmol/L) increased the ratio of protein to DNA by less than 10%, whereas endothelin-1 (100 nmol/L) produced a 28% increase.

[Angiotensin II type 1 and type 2 receptor].

Nihon rinsho. Japanese journal of clinical medicine, 2009
The octapeptide angiotensin II (AngII) plays a homeostatic role in the regulation of blood pressure and water and electrolyte balance, and contributes to the progression of cardiovascular remodeling. AngII activates AngII type 1 (AT1) receptor and type 2 (AT2) receptor, both of which belong to the seven-transmembrane, G protein-coupled receptor family.

Type-1 and type-2 angiotensin II receptors in fetal rat brain

European Journal of Pharmacology, 1991
Brain angiotensin II receptors were located in 18-day-old rat embryos by quantitative autoradiography. In the nucleus of the solitary tract and choroid plexus, binding was displaced by the type-1 antagonist DuP 753. In the inferior olive, paratrigeminal and hypoglossal nuclei, binding was displaced by the type-2 antagonist CGP 42112 A.

Angiotensin II type 2 receptor stimulation

2014
Background This study is the first to examine the effect of direct Ang II type 2 (AT2) receptor stimulation on post infarct cardiac function with the use of the novel nonpeptide AT2 receptor agonist compound 21 (C21). Methods and Results Myocardial infarction (MI) was induced in Wistar rats by permanent ligation of the left coronary artery.
