Molecular recognition of anions by synthetic receptors
Over the past year, several significant developments have been made in the field of anion binding. The fundamental principles of molecular recognition are increasingly being better understood, and of particular interest are reports of several synthetic anion receptors able to perform their task in complex natural media.

Functional screening identified PcSyn14890, a cyanobacteria‐specific protein that enhances growth and stress resistance in E. coli and Synechocystis PCC6803. Although we expected it to function as a molecular chaperone, it was unable to protect against thermal aggregation of GAPDH.

Discovery of anion-π interactions in the recognition mechanism of inorganic anions by 1,2,3-triazolium rings [PDF]
A bis(triazolium)-based receptor designed for anion recognition is presented. NMR spectroscopic data indicate that one triazolium ring is acting as a hydrogen bond donor, whereas the second triazolium ring behaves as an anion-π receptor. The simultaneous

Characterization of the key membrane protein cytochrome Cyc2 from Ghiorsea bivora
This study reports the first detailed biochemical analysis of Cyc2TAG1_1, a cytochrome protein involved in microbial iron oxidation. We produced and purified this enzyme in E. coli, then measured its iron‐oxidizing efficiency, and characterized its electrical and structural properties.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

ANION-BINDING AND SENSING PROPERTIES OF NOVEL RECEPTORS BASED ON N-(INDOL-3-YLGLYOXYLYL)BENZYLAMINE
Indole-based receptors such as biindole, carbazole, and indolocarbazole are regarded as some of the most favorable anion receptors in molecular recognition. This is because indole groups possess N–H groups as hydrogen-bonding donors.

DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...
