Acridinone-based anion transporters [PDF]
The arrangement of hydrogen bond donors around a central lipophilic scaffold has proven a successful strategy in the development of potent chloride transporters. In this work, we revisit an acridinone 1,9-bis(thio)urea motif which had previously shown promise as an anion sensor and expand the series of compounds by appending a variety of electron ...

Halide-selective, proton-coupled anion transport by phenylthiosemicarbazones [PDF]
Phenylthiosemicarbazones (PTSCs) are proton-coupled anion transporters with pH-switchable behaviour known to be regulated by an imine protonation equilibrium.

A photo-responsive transmembrane anion transport relay [PDF]
Ion transport across lipid membranes in biology is controlled by stimuli-responsive membrane channels and molecular machine ion pumps such as ATPases.

The lucigenin assay: measuring anion transport in lipid vesicles [PDF]
Synthetic anion transporters are developed to transport anions across lipid membranes with the long-term perspective of biological applications. The lucigenin assay is a popular tool to study their transport of chloride and other anions in liposomes.

Characterization of an organic anion-transporting polypeptide (OATP-B) in human placenta [PDF]
Organic anion-transporting polypeptides (OATPs) are a family of multispecific carriers that mediate the sodium-independent transport of steroid hormone and conjugates, drugs, and numerous anionic endogenous substrates.

Identification of steroid sulfate transport processes in the human mammary gland [PDF]
Circulating hormones and local biotransformation of steroid precursors are both sources of estrogen in human mammary tissue. Estrone-3-sulfate (E(1)S) is an important estrogenic form in premenopausal women, and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS ...

Transmembrane Fluoride Transport by a Cyclic Azapeptide With Two β-Turns
Diverse classes of anion transporters have been developed, most of which focus on the transmembrane chloride transport due to its significance in living systems.

Anion Transporters in Plant Mitochondria [PDF]
The swelling of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) mitochondria in isosmotic ammonium salts of phosphate, chloride, malate, succinate, and citrate was investigated by measuring light scattering. Potato mitochondria swell spontaneously in ammonium phosphate, and this swelling can be inhibited in N-ethylmaleimide.

Protocol: optimised electrophyiological analysis of intact guard cells from arabidopsis [PDF]
Genetic resources available for Arabidopsis thaliana make this species particularly attractive as a model for molecular genetic studies of guard cell homeostasis, transport and signalling, but this facility is not matched by accessible tools for ...

Carbazole-Based Colorimetric Anion Sensors [PDF]
Endowed with strong carbazole chromophore and fluorophore as well as with powerful and convergent hydrogen bond donors, 1,8-diaminocarbazoles are amongst the most attractive and synthetically versatile building blocks for the construction of anion ...
