ABSTRACT Bacterial wound infections, particularly those caused by Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, are difficult to treat due to biofilm formation, multidrug resistance, and chronic inflammation. Here, we report a multifunctional nanoplatform based on a surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) probe that enables simultaneous photodynamic ...

An integrated Human Airway Microbiome Gene Catalog (iHAMGC) is constructed from 12,273 metagenomic airway samples, providing a high‐resolution reference of respiratory microbial genes. The catalog enables systematic exploration of taxonomic and functional variation across airway niches and geographic regions, revealing site‐specific and region ...

ZnO/CdS Nanocomposite: An Anti-Microbial and Anti-Biofilm Agent
Microbial infectious are becoming a global threat, which is a reason for rise in mortality of human beings. One of the reasons for this mortality has been the drug resistance in microbes. The drug resistance poses a major challenge for effective control of microbial infections, and this threat has prompted us to search for alternative strategy to ...

The ABCABC stacking sequence in 2D ZnIn2S4 nanosheets creates intrinsic non‐centrosymmetry, enabling robust piezocatalysis under weak mechanical agitation. The nanosheets achieve a H2O2 yield of 276.7 µmol g−1 h−1 and uranium extraction capacity of 763.2 mg g−1 via a dual mechanism of direct piezoreduction and in situ H2O2 complexation.

A “nutritional trap” strategy centered on disrupting bacterial iron homeostasis is proposed. The synthesized Bi‐TP@FU (TBF) can target Helicobacter pylori, interfere with the bacterial iron uptake and utilization processes to disrupt its iron homeostasis, induce bacterial death, and meanwhile preserve the balance of the intestinal flora.

Novel anti-biofilm materials for medical devices based on biofunctionalized surfaces
The tendency of microorganisms to develop detrimental biofilms has been well documented for a number of implanted medical devices. Unfortunately, the traditional approaches including systemic antibiotic prophylaxis and local antimicrobial administrations

A rigid‑flexible integrated CO depot is engineered by embedding rigid COFQDs into a flexible ECM gel network. The rigid framework enables high‑capacity CO storage and sonodynamic bacterial killing, while the flexible ECM gel controls sustained CO release, collectively eradicating multidrug‑resistant infection and promoting scarless healing.

Ecology of Anti-Biofilm Agents II: Bacteriophage Exploitation and Biocontrol of Biofilm Bacteria
Bacteriophages are the viruses of bacteria. In the guise of phage therapy they have been used for decades to successfully treat what are probable biofilm-containing chronic bacterial infections.

Influence of hydrodynamics and nutrients on biofilm structure
Hydrodynamic conditions control two interlinked parameters; mass transfer and drag, and will, therefore, significantly influence many of the processes involved in biofilm development. The goal of this research was to determine the effect of flow velocity
