AllergoOncology in Review: Harnessing Allergy in the Field of Oncology to Improve Patient Outcomes

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Allergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The AllergoOncology field brings together the study of allergic and cancer immune responses, having evolved from early epidemiological studies that reported inverse associations between allergies, IgE and cancer risk. Insights from studying allergic inflammation are revealing previously unappreciated immune mechanisms that confer protective ...

Serum matrix metalloproteinase-9 levels and enzymatic activity in patients with anti-glomerular basement membrane disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
BackgroundAnti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) disease is an autoimmune disorder with autoantibodies against GBM component, non-collagenous domain of the α3 chain of type IV collagen, α3(IV)NC1. Matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) is an endogenous

A guide to the types, structures, and multifaceted functions of matrix metalloproteinases in cancer

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) orchestrate cancer progression and metastasis through proteolytic and non‐proteolytic actions. By remodeling the tumor microenvironment, enhancing growth factor availability, and modulating cell behavior, MMPs promote proliferation, migration or invasion, and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition. Alongside extracellular

Predicting Pressure Injury Prevention Education by Acute Care Nurses Within 24 h of Hospital Admission: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Nursing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Predicting medical/surgical nurses' delivery of patient pressure injury prevention education within 24 h of hospitalisation. Design A cross‐sectional sub‐study drawn from a larger multisite randomised controlled trial. Methods A consecutive sub‐sample of 300 randomly assigned control group participants was recruited from 20 medical and ...

Clinical significance of renal histological diagnosis in patients with type 2 diabetes and proteinuria atypical for diabetic nephropathy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Aim Most patients with proteinuria are considered to have typical diabetic nephropathy (DN). However, when proteinuria occurs without diabetic retinopathy, with hematuria, or persists despite strict glycemic and blood pressure control, it is considered atypical for DN and warrants further evaluation for non‐DN via kidney biopsy ...

Cancer‐associated fibroblasts are associated with CD8+ T cell depletion and poor prognosis in colorectal adenocarcinoma: a multi‐omics and machine learning analysis

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology: Clinical Research, Volume 12, Issue 2, March 2026.
Abstract Fibroblastic proliferation in various tumor microenvironments influences cancer survival through complex interactions with diverse immune responses. This study investigated the impact of histologically unique activated cancer‐associated fibroblasts (aCAFs) on survival outcomes and immune responses and examined their association with various ...

Low YTHDC1 Expression Upregulates FSCN1 to Promote Nuclear F‐Actin Formation and Facilitate Double‐strand DNA Breaks Repair in TMZ‐Resistant Glioblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 13, 3 March 2026.
This study revealed that low expression of YTHDC1 in TMZ‐resistant GBM cells leads to increased FSCN1 expression, which is suppressed by m6A modification. FSCN1 activates the CDC42/N‐WASP/Arp2/3 axis in the cell nucleus by recruiting the guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) family member FGD1, thereby promoting F‐actin polymerization in the nucleus.
