Anti-HLA Antibodies in Kidney Transplanted Patients

Transplantation Proceedings, 2005
Anti-human leukocyte antibodies (HLA) play a central role in graft survival, particularly in kidney transplantation. The presence of preformed donor specific anti-HLA antibodies is always excluded before transplantation by performing crossmatches using current and historic recipient serum samples.

Concordance and discordance in anti-HLA antibody testing

Transplant Immunology, 2015
Correct identification of the specificity of antibodies directed against HLA using single antigen Luminex beads (SALB) is essential in current HLA laboratory practice for transplantation. The aim of this study was to investigate the magnitude of concordance and discordance among laboratories in testing for anti-HLA antibodies using SALB.35 sera were ...

Interference between anti-HLA antibodies and chlorpromazine

Nature, 1976
IT has been suggested that the effects of chlorpromazine in man and animals are genetically influenced1,2. In mice, genetic control of sensitivity to this drug seems to reside in two loci, the more important of which lies on chromosome 9 at about the region which controls the histo-compatibility system H2 (ref. 3).

THE ROLE OF ANTI-HLA ANTIBODIES IN HEART TRANSPLANTATION

TRANSPLANTATION, 1991
The major threat to long-term survival of heart allograft recipients is the development of graft atherosclerosis, which seems to be a manifestation of chronic rejection. To assess the role of anti-HLA antibodies in heart allograft rejection we studied 107 patients and compared the survival of recipients who formed anti-HLA antibodies with the survival ...

Analysis of the repertoire of anti-HLA antibodies with anti-idiotypes to a murine anti-HLA-A2,A28 monoclonal antibody

Human Immunology, 1984
Xenoantibodies to idiotypes of the anti-HLA-A2,A28 MoAb CR11 -351 were isolated from an antiserum raised in rabbit #81 by immunizations with purified MoAb CR11 -351. The purification procedure involved absorption with insolubilized mouse immunoglobulins and monoclonal antibodies and affinity chromatography on insolubilized MoAb CR11 -351.

Comprehensive Characterization of Anti-HLA and Non-HLA Antibodies in Patients on Kidney Transplant Waiting List and Evaluation of Their Impact on Alloimmunization Risk and Dialysis Treatment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences
Alloimmunization remains a major obstacle to successful kidney transplantation, mainly due to the formation of anti-HLA antibodies. In recent years, non-HLA antibodies have emerged as additional immunologic factors that can potentially contribute to ...

Human Anti-HLA Monoclonal Antibodies

1989
Since many murine anti-HLA monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) produced so far react with monomorphic determinants, human HLA-specific MAbs can be more useful as reagents for precisely defining HLA polymorphism. Here we show that polymorphic human antiHLA MAbs can be obtained by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)transformation of immune B cells followed by selection ...

Association of Neonatal Thrombocytopenia and Maternal Anti‐HLA Antibodies

Pediatrics International, 1991
In order to evaluate the influence of maternal anti‐HLA antibody on neonatal thrombocytopenia, clinical features and maternal anti‐HLA antibody of three groups of infants (19 thrombocytopenic and low birth weight, 27 nonthrombocytopenic and low birth weight, and 80 healthy full‐term) were investigated.

Extracorporeal Removal of Anti-HLA Antibodies in Transplant Candidates

American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 1990
We report on the results of a clinical trial in which 14 transplant candidates were treated with an extracorporeal immunoadsorption system using Protein A that selectively removes immunoglobulin from plasma; we also assessed the dynamics of anti-HLA antibody as a model of IgG removal and re-equilibration, as well as the clinical safety of the procedure.
