Circulating microRNA signatures of cachexia and cancer in Canis familiaris as a comparative oncology model for human disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).

Schematic diagram showing the possible mechanism of anti-TNF-α therapy in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

open access: yes, 2019
Persistent exposure to androgen promoted the secretion of TNF-α and other inflammatory factors. TNF-αsignificantly upregulated CYP17A1 and downregulated CYP19A1, the key enzymes involved in the synthesis and conversion of androgens, leading to the ...

PANoptosis in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PANoptosis, a combination of three types of programmed cell death, is mediated by a large protein complex called a PANoptosome. In healthy bone marrow hematopoietic cells, PANoptosis is restricted by inhibitory signaling. In MDS, bone marrow cells become sensitive to the PANoptotic stimuli due to the aberrant inactivation of inhibitory signaling or ...

Immunological Changes in Peripheral Blood of Ankylosing Spondylitis Patients during Anti-TNF-α Therapy and Their Correlations with Treatment Outcomes

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, 2021
Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) inhibitors are the main types of biological conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs and have efficacy in treating ankylosing spondylitis (AS) which is not sensitive for nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory ...

Predictive and prognostic biomarkers of Bacillus Calmette‐Guérin therapy failure in bladder cancer patients: A systematic review

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
High‐risk bladder cancer is typically treated with Bacillus Calmette‐Guérin (BCG), but 30–40% of patients relapse. No FDA‐ or CE‐approved biomarkers currently predict or prognosticate BCG failure. We systematically reviewed the literature and identified 72 eligible studies, revealing several promising biomarkers associated with BCG treatment response ...

Public versus Private Drug Insurance and Outcomes of Patients Requiring Biologic Therapies for Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 2017
Background. Antitumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) therapy is a highly effective but costly treatment for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Methods. We conducted a retrospective cohort study of IBD patients who were prescribed anti-TNF therapy (2007–2014 ...

Effect of Anti-TNF Therapy on Mucosal Apoptosis Genes Expression in Crohn's Disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Crohn's disease (CD) is a chronic immune-mediated disorder for which there is not a fully effective treatment. Moreover, biological therapy with anti-tumor necrosis factor-α (anti-TNF-α) monoclonal antibodies leads to an effective response in only 60–70%
