Anti-trypanosomal activity of (8-hydroxymethylen)-trieicosanyl acetate against infective forms of Trypanosoma cruzi

open access: yesPharmaceutical Biology, 2010
The activity of an (8-hydroxymethylen)-trieicosanyl acetate compound obtained from chloroform extracts of Senna villosa (Mill.) H.S. Irwin & Barneby (Leguminosae) against Trypanosoma cruzi was evaluated in vivo. Oral doses of 2.1, 8.4, and 33.6 microg/g were tested for 28 days in BALB/c mice infected with T. cruzi.

Structural Characterization of Acidic M17 Leucine Aminopeptidases from the TriTryps and Evaluation of Their Role in Nutrient Starvation in Trypanosoma brucei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Leucine aminopeptidase (LAP) is found in all kingdoms of life and catalyzes the metal-dependent hydrolysis of the N-terminal amino acid residue of peptide or amino acyl substrates.

Chemoselective Synthesis and Anti-Kinetoplastidal Properties of 2,6-Diaryl-4H-tetrahydro-thiopyran-4-one S-Oxides: Their Interplay in a Cascade of Redox Reactions from Diarylideneacetones

open access: yesMolecules
2,6-Diaryl-4H-tetrahydro-thiopyran-4-ones and corresponding sulfoxide and sulfone derivatives were designed to lower the major toxicity of their parent anti-kinetoplatidal diarylideneacetones through a prodrug effect.
