Helicobacter pylori‐Induced Persistent IGF2BP1 Activation Promotes Ferroptosis Resistance in Gastric Tumorigenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Helicobacter pylori infection induces sustained upregulation of the RNA‐binding protein IGF2BP1 in gastric epithelial cells, establishing a persistent epitranscriptomic program. IGF2BP1 stabilizes SLC7A11 mRNA in an m6A‐dependent manner to suppress ferroptosis and promote epithelial survival under oxidative stress. Pharmacological inhibition of IGF2BP1

Prophage Activation Triggers Extracellular Synthesis of DNA in Bacterial Biofilms via Rolling Circle Replication

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Shewanella oneidensis and Bacillus subtilis, both harboring prophages, reveal a novel biosynthetic route to scalable and programmable DNA superstructures in flower‐ and wire‐like shapes, respectively. Activation of prophages is achieved via 3‐hour starvation and monitored using reporter strains.

The influence of an innovative antibacterial drug of the thiadiazinone class on the virulence factors of bacteria of the phylum Pseudomonadota, which chronically infect patients with cystic fibrosis

open access: yesЖурнал микробиологии, эпидемиологии и иммунобиологии
Introduction. Infections of the lower respiratory tract by bacteria of the Pseudomonadota phylum: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Burkholderia spp., Achromobacter spp. are critical to the quality and life expectancy of patients with cystic fibrosis (CF).

Pathological Signal‐Responsive Nanoplatforms for Sepsis: Integrating Biomarker Sensing With Spatiotemporal Drug Delivery and Immunomodulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Biomarker‐triggered nanoplatforms transform sepsis therapy by coupling pathological sensing with precision drug release. This review reveals how microenvironment‐responsive nanomedicines enable stage‐specific intervention, improve therapeutic efficacy, and minimize systemic toxicity, while highlighting emerging opportunities for AI‐assisted and ...

Disarming Salmonella virulence with 32H-hilE anti-virulence bacteriophage

open access: yesMicrobiological Research
As the development of new antibiotics struggles with the continuous emergence of drug-resistant bacteria, targeting bacterial virulence factors instead of viability has been proposed as one of the alternative approaches to combat the pathogens. Here, we genetically engineered the temperate phage SPC32H to serve as a delivery vehicle for key negative ...

Unraveling A4GALT Mechanism and Its Modulation With Adamantyl‐Galactosylceramide Analogues: Advancing Fabry Disease Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A 310‐helix‐mediated conformational switch promotes a front‐face SNi‐like catalysis by human A4GALT. Mechanism‐guided design identifies AdaGalCer as a selective modulator of globotriaosylceramide (Gb3) biosynthesis, opening a clear route toward new Fabry disease therapeutics.

FAM134B Restricts African Swine Fever Virus Capsid Assembly via Reticulophagy and Its Antiviral Activity is Antagonized by the Viral Virulence‐Associated Factor pMGF300‐2R

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT African swine fever (ASF), caused by African swine fever virus (ASFV), is a devastating viral disease in domestic pigs and wild boar. ASFV is a large DNA virus whose capsid assembly takes place within perinuclear viral factories (VFs). Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that reticulophagy confers antiviral activity against multiple RNA ...

TroA of Streptococcus suis is required for manganese acquisition and full virulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Streptococcus suis causes infections in pigs and occasionally in humans resulting in 23 manifestations as meningitis, sepsis, arthritis and septic shock. For survival within the 24 host, S. suis requires numerous nutrients including trace metals.
