Monoclonal Antibodies

2008
Monoclonal antibodies (mabs) are powerful tools for the quantification, detection, and targeting of specific molecules. Allergen-specific mabs are important for the quantification of major allergens in allergen preparations used for allergen-specific immunotherapy and allergy diagnosis.

Monoclonal Rh antibodies

Revue Francaise de Transfusion et Immuno-hématologie, 1988
The Rh antibodies were studied by manual serological techniques (see Daniels' report on Kell related antigens), using human red cells of common and rare Rh phenotypes in an attempt to identify their specificity and/or usefulness as reagents. The report is divided into 3 sections : section I anti-D antibodies, section II other Rh specifities, section ...

Purification of Monoclonal Antibodies

Current Protocols in Molecular Biology, 1997
AbstractThe uses of monoclonal antibodies as enzyme conjugates and as immunoaffinity reagents require their purification from the crude ascites fluid. This unit provides protocols for purification using protein A‐Sepharose chromatography and affinity chromatography, which are superior to ammonium sulfate precipitation, gel filtration, or ion‐exchange ...

Monoclonal antibodies and arthritis

Agents and Actions, 1990
Monoclonal antibodies to certain cell surface constituents on lymphocytes, monocytes and macrophages have been administered to Lewis rats with developing, established or adoptively transferred arthritis, to determine any immunomodulatory properties.

Antibodies and Selection of Monoclonal Antibodies

2015
Monoclonal antibodies are universal binding molecules with a high specificity for their target and are indispensable tools in research, diagnostics and therapy. The biotechnological generation of monoclonal antibodies was enabled by the hybridoma technology published in 1975 by Köhler and Milstein.

Monoclonal antibody therapy

Frontiers in Bioscience, 2006
The concept of targeted therapy was conceived through increased understanding of the biological pathways involved in the pathogenesis of cancer and subsequently identification of the most appropriate antigens to target. Monoclonal antibody therapy harnesses host defense mechanisms through activation of the antibody dependent cytotoxic pathway and ...

New monoclonal antibodies

Current Opinion in Cardiology, 1996
Monoclonal antibody technology has become an important diagnostic and therapeutic tool in many areas of medicine, including the prevention and treatment of organ transplant rejection. The monoclonal antibody that has been most widely used clinically is OKT3, a murine monoclonal antibody directed against the CD3 receptor on the surface of human T cells.

Monoclonal antibody therapy

2001
Publisher Summary Monoclonal antibody therapy (MAT) makes use of all the major features of the immune response. It involves vaccination/ immunization, albeit in experimental animals, to induce the desired specific immune response. It exploits the high specificity, selectivity, and affinity of the antibody complementarity-determining regions (CDRs ...

Human monoclonal antibodies

Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, 1984
The technology for the production of murine monoclonal antibodies has been refined enormously since its introduction in 1975. However, the technology for generating human monoclonal antibodies has only recently come into its own. In this review, three currently available approaches to the production of human monoclonal antibodies are described.

Monoclonal antibodies to prothrombin

Thrombosis Research, 1987
Hybridoma technology was used for the production of murine monoclonal antibodies to bovine normal prothrombin. Hybrid cell cultures were assayed for the production of antibodies, both in the absence and presence of calcium ions, by Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Antibody-producing cell lines were cloned two times and grown as ascites tumors.
