Anticancer Activity of Ferrocenylthiosemicarbazones

Anti-Cancer Agents in Medicinal Chemistry, 2014
Aliphatic and aromatic ferrocenylthiosemicarbazones were synthesized. The characterization of the new ferrocenylthiosemicarbazones was done by IR, (1)H-NMR and (13)C-NMR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and X-ray diffraction studies. The biological activity of the obtained compounds was assessed in terms of anticancer activity.

Anticancer activity of seaweeds

Drug Discovery Today, 2018
Cancer is a major health problem worldwide and still lacks fully effective treatments. Therefore, alternative therapies, using natural products, have been proposed. Marine algae are an important component of the marine environment, with high biodiversity, and contain a huge number of functional compounds, including terpenes, polyphenols, phlorotannins,

Bisphosphonate anticancer activity

Expert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy, 2011
Bone metastases have a major impact on morbidity and on mortality in cancer patients. Despite its clinical relevance, metastasis remains the most poorly elucidated aspect of carcinogenesis. Different pathways or molecules such as RANK/RANKL/OPG, cathepsin K, endothelin-1, Wnt/DKK1 and Src have recently emerged as potential targets, and preclinical and ...

Classification Models for Anticancer Activity

Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, 2013
Despite significant research in understanding of neoplastic diseases, the success rate for oncology drugs is relatively very low. A major challenge before the scientific community is to design new chemical entities that will be highly selective for cancer cells so as to minimize side effects.

Differentiation, cancer, and anticancer activity

Biochemistry and Cell Biology, 1988
Carcinogenesis is a multistep process that results from the development of a variety of defects in the control of differentiation and proliferation. To investigate this concept further, 3T3 T mesenchymal stems cells were employed to establish that a distinct sequence of biological processes is involved in the control of differentiation and ...

Trisindoline synthesis and anticancer activity

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2008
Expression of a Rhodococcus-derived oxygenase gene in Escherichia coli yielded indigo metabolites with cytotoxic activity against cancer cells. Bioactivity-guided fractionation of these indigo metabolites led to the isolation of trisindoline as the agent responsible for the observed in vitro cytotoxic activity against cancer cells.
