Monitoring Injected Drug Use in Greece Through Syringe Residue Analysis: A Multicity Study Within the ESCAPE Network

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
A total of 2121 used syringes were analyzed in Athens, Thessaloniki, and Patras between 2022 and 2024. Distinct drug‐use patterns were observed across the three cities. Benzodiazepines, pregabalin, methadone, and fentanyl were increasingly detected in 2024.

Comparative associations between anticholinergic burden and emergency department visits for anticholinergic adverse events in older Korean adults: a nested case-control study using national claims data for validation of a novel country-specific scale [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Background Considering the limited generalizability of previous anticholinergic burden scales, the Korean Anticholinergic Burden Scale (KABS) as a scale specific to the Korean population was developed.

Pregabalin Efficacy in Treatment of Chronic Neurogenic Cough

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
The use of neuromodulators for chronic cough has increased; however, the choice of medication, dosing regimen, and duration are still unclear. This longitudinal study of 95 adults taking pregabalin, 75 mg twice daily, for CNC demonstrated 78% improvement or resolution of cough, 17% unchanged, 1% worse cough, with a mean of 6 weeks of therapy, and only ...

Pharmacological characteristics of some anticholinergic drugs in man [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Clinical observations clearly show the activity of several anticholinergic drugs on some organs in the human body. Atropine has been the prototype of an anticholinergic drug throughout many centuries.

Emergencies in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Emergencies are frequent in people living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (pALS), especially as the disease progresses, and can necessitate urgent evaluation and intervention. Progressive weakness in ALS inevitably increases fall risk, making discussion of fall prevention strategies integral to caring for pALS.
