The authors explored the relationship between the antiobsessional and antidepressant effects of tricyclic drugs in primary obsessive-compulsive disorders. Study 1 consisted of a controlled 12-week trial with clomipramine (N = 7) and placebo (N = 5); study 2 analyzed the pooled data from 15 patients uniformly selected and treated with either ...

Anticonvulsant hypersensitivity syndrome: cross-reactivity with tricyclic antidepressant agents
Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, 2006Aromatic anticonvulsant agents such as carbamazepine and phenytoin can induce anticonvulsant hypersensitivity syndrome (AHS) at a frequency of 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 1,000 treated patients. The hypersensitivity syndrome is a potentially life-threatening adverse drug reaction with multiorgan involvement, and incidental reexposure must be strictly avoided ...

Tricyclic Neovibsanin Scaffold (TCNS) as an Effective Antidepressant Agent
Drug Research, 2015Neovibsanin type natural products were found to display neurite outgrowth activity in PC12 cells. This suggests that such type of compounds could be promising candidates for the development of novel therapeutic agents to treat neurological diseases.

[Possible cross hepatotoxicity between tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressive agents].
Ugeskrift for laeger, 1992The case is reported of a patient in whom acute hepatitis was induced first by a tricyclic antidepressant (dothiepin) and then by a tetracyclic antidepressant (mianserine). This observation does not confirm previous suggestions that the tricyclic ring is responsible for liver toxicity.

Combined intoxication with tricyclic antidepressive and neuroleptic agents.
1996We report the case of a patient who co-ingested a tricyclic antidepressant (2500 mg of doxepin) and a neuroleptic drug (3500 mg of prothipendyl). Following overdose either agent can affect the central nervous and cardiovascular systems, inducing arrhythmias, conduction disturbances and hypotension.

[Manic-depressive psychoses. Chronic treatment with tricyclic antidepressive agents].
Annales medico-psychologiques, 1978Long-course Tricyclic anti-depressing treatment affonds clinical healing--i.e. abolition of the recurrences--in melancolic unipolary periodic depressions. This treatment--T.A.T.C.--allows a good prevention of melancolic recurrences in bipolar periodic patterns of psychosis.
