Efficient and selective presentation of antigen-antibody complexes by rheumatoid factor B cells

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1991
Using Epstein-Barr virus B cell clones and antigen-specific T cell clones, we asked how antigen-antibody complexes are handled by B cells. We found that the only B cells capable of efficient presentation of antigen-antibody complexes are those that bind ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Cytosolic Recognition of RNA Drives the Immune Response to Heterologous Erythrocytes

open access: yesCell Reports, 2017
Summary: The archetypal T cell-dependent antigen is sheep red blood cells (SRBCs), which have defined much of what we know about humoral immunity. Early studies using solubilized or sonicated SRBCs argued that the intact structure of SRBCs was important ...

Cancer biomarkers, and novel techniques for detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Technologies for early detection of tumors is critical for better therapy outcome and overall change in cancer survival. These assays must be capable of detecting tumors at early stages in order to prevent metastasis of the tumor and help reduce ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Immunization of mice with YscF provides protection from Yersinia pestis infections

open access: yesBMC Microbiology, 2005
Background Yersinia pestis, the causative agent of plague, is a pathogen with a tremendous ability to cause harm and panic in populations. Due to the severity of plague and its potential for use as a bioweapon, better preventatives and therapeutics for ...

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Potentiating Antigen-Specific Antibody Production with Peptides Obtained from In Silico Screening for High-Affinity against MHC-II

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Monoclonal antibodies with high affinity and specificity are essential for research and clinical purposes, yet remain difficult to produce. Agretope peptides that can potentiate antigen-specific antibody production have been reported recently.

Detection of Circulating Filarial Antigen [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Affinity binding to specific solid phase antibody, immune complex binding to Raji cells or PEG precipitation of immune complexes was used in conjunction with Western blotting to detect circulating filarial antigen in filarial sera.
