Physiological responses of Brassica napus to fulvic acid under water stress: Chlorophyll a fluorescence and antioxidant enzyme activity

open access: yes, 2015
The ameliorative effect of fulvic acid (0, 300, and 600 mg L − 1 ) on photosystem II and antioxidant enzyme activity of the rapeseed ( Brassica napus L.) plant under water stress (60, 100, and 140 mm evaporation from class A pan) was studied using split ...

Effects of Leucocyanidines on Activities of Metabolizing Enzymes and Antioxidant Enzymes.

open access: yesBiological and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 2001
Procyanidolic oligomers (leucocyanidines, LCs) extracted from grape seeds (Vitis vinifera) are known to have antioxidant and antimutagenic activities, and a protective effect against cardiovascular disease. In the present study we examined the influence of LCs on the activities of phase 1 enzymes and conjugation enzymes and on antioxidant enzymes such ...

Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) regulates trophoblast syncytialization through organelle stress–induced cellular senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

The Optimization of Hydrolyzed Protein Production with High Anti-Oxidation Ability from Sesame Meal by Response Surface Methodology [PDF]

open access: yesPizhūhish va Nuāvarī dar ̒Ulūm va Sanāyi̒-i Ghaz̠āyī, 2019
The purpose of this study was to produce a hydrolyzed protein from sesame seed meal using response surface methodology (RSM).The sesame meal protein is a low-value product, often used for feeding animals, but it can be hydrolyzed to protein hydrolysate ...

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.
