Magnetoreceptor Promotes Hepatocellular Carcinoma Development and Blunts Sorafenib‐Induced Ferroptosis by Regulating Iron Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetoreceptor (MagR) regulates iron homeostasis and mitochondrial function in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. Specifically, MagR deficiency suppresses tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion and enhances sorafenib‐induced ferroptosis through iron accumulation.

Critical Functions of Region 1-67 and Helix XIII in Retaining the Active Structure of NhaD Antiporter in Halomonas sp. Y2

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
NhaD-type antiporters are mainly distributed in various Proteobacteria, especially in marine microorganisms and human pathogens. This distribution as well as the pathogenic properties of these strains suggest that these antiporters contribute to the ...

Screening the Drug:H+ Antiporter Family for a Role in Biofilm Formation in Candida glabrata

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2020
Biofilm formation and drug resistance are two key pathogenesis traits exhibited by Candida glabrata as a human pathogen. Interestingly, specific pathways appear to be in the crossroad between the two phenomena, making them promising targets for drug ...

Plant NHX cation/proton antiporters [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Signaling & Behavior, 2009
Although physiological and biochemical data since long suggested that Na(+)/H(+) and K(+)/H(+) antiporters are involved in intracellular ion and pH regulation in plants, it has taken a long time to identify genes encoding antiporters that could fulfil these roles.

Structural Variants in the Human Genome Associated With Gut Microbiome and Blood Metabolic Traits With Potential Causal Links

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on a multi‐omics cohort of 2002 individuals comprising high‐depth whole‐genome and metagenomic sequencing data, blood metabolites, and detailed questionnaires, we identified 138 859 high‐confidence SVs, uncovering 36 significant SV–microbiome associations and 48 SV–blood metabolite associations.

Antiporters of the Mitochondrial Carrier Family

open access: yes, 2014
The eukaryotic transport protein family SLC25 consists of mitochondrial carriers (MCs) that are recognized on the sequence level by a threefold repeated and conserved signature motif. The majority of MCs characterized so far catalyzes strict exchanges of substrates across the mitochondrial inner membrane.

Age‐Related Lamin B1 Deficiency Activates SLC7A11‐Dependent Disulfidptosis to Impair Osteogenesis via Intercepting Mitochondrial Fission

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that age‐related LMNB1 deficiency in mesenchymal stem cells epigenetically upregulates SLC7A11, triggering actin disulfidptosis and mitochondrial dysfunction. This cascade impairs bone formation in senile osteoporosis. Furthermore, researchers identified the FDA‐approved drug naldemedine as a targeted SLC7A11 inhibitor to reverse ...

Intracellular proton access in a Cl(-)/H(+) antiporter.

open access: yesPLoS Biology, 2012
Chloride-transporting membrane proteins of the CLC family appear in two distinct mechanistic flavors: H(+)-gated Cl(-) channels and Cl(-)/H(+) antiporters. Transmembrane H(+) movement is an essential feature of both types of CLC. X-ray crystal structures

Mac‐2 Binding Protein Glycosylation Isomer (M2BPGi)–Based Risk Stratification Refined by Tumor Metabolic Activity in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
M2BPGi reflects background liver fibrosis and hepatic functional impairment. PET SUVmax reflects tumor metabolic aggressiveness. Their combination identifies a dual‐high subgroup with the poorest recurrence‐free and overall survival. ABSTRACT Aim To evaluate the prognostic significance of preoperative Mac‐2 binding protein glycosylation isomer (M2BPGi)
