Sensorimotor and inhibitory control in aging FMR1 premutation carriers

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2023
Aging FMR1 premutation carriers are at risk of developing neurodegenerative disorders, including fragile X-associated tremor/ataxia syndrome (FXTAS), and there is a need to identify biomarkers that can aid in identification and treatment of these ...

Eye movements as predictor of cognitive improvement after cognitive remediation therapy in patients with schizophrenia

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry
AimBaseline cognitive functions of patients predicted the efficacy of cognitive remediation therapy (CRT), but results are mixed. Eye movement is a more objective and advanced assessment of cognitive functions than neuropsychological testing. We aimed to

Cortical Sources of ERP in Prosaccade and Antisaccade Eye Movements using Realistic Source Models

open access: yesFrontiers in Systems Neuroscience, 2013
The cortical sources of event-related-potentials (ERP) using realistic source models were examined in a prosaccade and antisaccade task. College-age participants were presented with a preparatory interval and a target that indicated the direction of the ...

Longitudinal assessment of antisaccades in patients with multiple sclerosis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
We have previously demonstrated that assessment of antisaccades (AS) provides not only measures of motor function in multiple sclerosis (MS), but measures of cognitive control processes in particular, attention and working memory.

Neuromodulation of Prefrontal Cortex in Non-Human Primates by Dopaminergic Receptors during Rule-Guided Flexible Behavior and Cognitive Control

open access: yesFrontiers in Neural Circuits, 2017
The prefrontal cortex (PFC) is indispensable for several higher-order cognitive and executive capacities of primates, including representation of salient stimuli in working memory (WM), maintenance of cognitive task set, inhibition of inappropriate ...

DTI‐ALPS as a Biomarker of Small Vessel Disease Progression and Amyloid‐β in Normal Aging: A 3‐Year Longitudinal Study

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 14, October 1, 2026.
A higher DTI‐derived ALPS index relates cross‐sectionally to both quantitative and visual measures of SVD and is associated with short‐term amyloid‐β accumulation in cognitively normal older adults. Also, greater amyloid burden and choroid plexus volume are associated with a more rapid deterioration in global cognition and processing speed.
