Antimicrobial, antitrypanosomal and antibiofilm activity of Equisetum hyemale
Microbial Pathogenesis, 2016This study evaluates, for the first time, the antibiofilm, antimicrobial and antiparasitic potential of crude extract and fractions of stems of Equisetum hyemale against several infectious agents (bacteria, fungi, Mycobacterium and Trypanosomes) by broth microdilution technique and investigates the phenolic composition of the plant by high performance ...

Antileishmanial and Antitrypanosomal Activities of Flavonoids
2018This chapter focuses on the ability of flavonoid aglycones and glycosides to inhibit the growth of protozoan parasites of the genera Leishmania and Trypanosoma in different in vitro and in vivo models, namely pathogenic species for humans implicated in visceral (L. donovani, L. infantum) and cutaneous leishmaniasis (L. braziliensis, L.

In vitro evaluation of antitrypanosomal activity and molecular docking of benzoylthioureas
Parasitology International, 2021A series of sixteen benzoylthioureas derivatives were initially evaluated in vitro against the epimastigote form of Trypanosoma cruzi. All of the tested compounds inhibited the growth of this form of the parasite, and due to the promising anti-epimastigote activity from three of these compounds, they were also assayed against the trypomastigote and ...

Antiplasmodial and antitrypanosomal activity of Triclisia sacleuxii (Pierre) Diels
Phytomedicine, 2008The antiplasmodial and antitrypanosomal activities of Triclisia sacleuxii (Pierre) Diels were investigated on three Plasmodium falciparum strains [FcB1, 3D7 (chloroquine-sensitive) and W2 (chloroquine-resistant) strains] and on Trypanosoma brucei Tbsf 221.

In vitro antitrypanosomal activity ofMoringa stenopetala leaves and roots
Phytotherapy Research, 1999The leaves and the root extracts of Moringa stenopetala were tested in vitro against trypomastigotes of Trypanosoma brucei, Trypanosoma cruzi and L. donovani amastigotes. The fresh root wood ethanol extract and the dried leaves acetone extract were found to be active against T.

Antitrypanosomal Activity of Trivalent Antimonials in vitro and Its Significance
Chemotherapy, 2009The SbIII preparations available for clinical use were compared in vitro for their concentration/time/effect curves on Trypanosoma venezuelense (T. evansi), measuring decrease of motility and of parasite numbers. With these two criteria leading to similar relative results, the drugs are classified into a rapidly acting group, led

5'-Chloropuromycin. Inhibition of protein synthesis and antitrypanosomal activity
Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1981A facile, two-step conversion of puromycin aminonucleoside (PAN) into 5'-deoxy-PAN (5) via 5'-chloro-5'-deoxy-PAN (1) was accomplished. Replacement of the 5'-OH group of PAN with H or Cl resulted in the elimination of kidney toxicity associated with the administration of PAN.

Chagas' disease: carcinogenic activity of the antitrypanosomal nitroarenes in mice
Mutation Research - Fundamental and Molecular Mechanisms of Mutagenesis, 1994The carcinogenic activity of antitrypanosomal 2-nitroimidazole, 5-nitroimidazole and 5-nitrofuran derivatives was assessed in female Swiss mice of the same age group. A statistically significantly higher incidence of growths was seen in mice into which 2-nitro had been injected than in mice receiving 5-nitro derivatives intraperitoneally.
