AOM/DSS Model of Colitis-Associated Cancer [PDF]
Our understanding of colitis-associated carcinoma (CAC) has benefited substantially from mouse models that faithfully recapitulate human CAC. Chemical models, in particular, have enabled fast and efficient analysis of genetic and environmental modulators of CAC without the added requirement of time-intensive genetic crossings.

Schematic representation of ZIF‐8@OXA@inulin for cancer immunotherapy. Synthesis of ZIF‐8@OXA@inulin. Augmentation of pyroptosis, regulation of gut microbiota, and inhibition of NETs formation by ZIF‐8@OXA@inulin‐mediated comprehensive strategy for antitumor immune response. ABSTRACT Despite the potential of chemoimmunotherapy against colorectal cancer

Social distancing cut down the prevalence of acute otitis media in children
ObjectivesTo evaluate the additional, unintended benefits of social distancing in cutting down the prevalence of acute otitis media (AOM) in children, especially during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) periods.MethodsThe daily outpatient attendance of

Point: From animal models to prevention of colon cancer. Systematic review of chemoprevention in min mice and choice of the model system. [PDF]
The Apc(Min/+) mouse model and the azoxymethane (AOM) rat model are the main animal models used to study the effect of dietary agents on colorectal cancer. We reviewed recently the potency of chemopreventive agents in the AOM rat model (D. E.

Mouse models of colorectal cancer. [PDF]
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common malignancies in the world. Many mouse models have been developed to evaluate features of colorectal cancer in humans. These can be grouped into genetically-engineered, chemically-induced, and inoculated models.

An iron‐based nanozyme selectively eliminates intratumoral P. anaerobius while catalytically generating ROS to induce ferroptosis, synergistically suppressing colorectal cancer growth and activating anti‐tumor immunity through immunogenic cell death. ABSTRACT The intratumoral microbiota is a critical determinant of therapeutic outcomes in colorectal ...

INTRODUCTION: In the UK, about 30% of children under 3 years of age visit their GP each year with acute otitis media (AOM), and 97% of these receive antibiotics. In the US, AOM is the most common reason for outpatient antibiotic treatment. Without antibiotics, AOM resolves within 24 hours in about 60% of children, and within 3 days in about 80% of ...

The bidirectional interaction between carcinogens and gut microbiota that contributes to colorectal cancer is complicated. Reactivation of carcinogen metabolites by microbial β-glucuronidase (βG) in the gut potentially plays an important role in ...

Precise measurement of hyperfine structure in the $5P_{3/2}$ state of $^{85}$Rb
We demonstrate a technique to measure hyperfine structure using a frequency-stabilized diode laser and an acousto-optic modulator locked to the frequency difference between two hyperfine peaks. We use this technique to measure hyperfine intervals in the $

This study identifies Pirin (PIR), an iron‐binding protein, as a critical ferroptosis suppressor in colorectal cancer through lipid membrane remodeling. PIR, induced by NRF2 during ferroptotic stress, transcriptionally regulates PLA2G4A to shift cellular lipid composition away from ferroptosis‐permissive polyunsaturated phospholipids.
