Overcoming the Paradox of Measuring Self‐Awareness Development by Focusing on Outcomes

open access: yesHuman Resource Development Quarterly, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Many HRD interventions aim to enhance self‐awareness to shape employee behavior, to develop skills, or as a performance‐related outcome. But measuring this development faces significant metacognitive challenges: self‐awareness changes when one's attention is directed to it, and self‐report relies on accurate self‐awareness.

Targeting Microbiome Metabolites: Reshaping Immunotherapy and Clinical Management Strategies for Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesiMetaMed, EarlyView.
The occurrence and progression of colorectal cancer are intricately linked to metabolites produced by the gut microbiota. Metabolites generated by pathogenic microbial communities can promote colorectal cancer development by reshaping the immune microenvironment.

Last‐minute coordination: Adapting to demand to support last‐mile operations

open access: yesJournal of Operations Management, Volume 71, Issue 2, Page 176-194, March 2025.
Abstract In the highly competitive e‐commerce industry, customer‐facing warehouses are crucial as the “order penetration points” for e‐commerce last‐mile operations. This research examines how warehouses use last‐minute coordination, an unstructured mechanism, to ensure sufficient inventory at the order penetration points. Previous research has focused

Anaerobic oxidation of methane by manganese oxides in marine sediments: a review

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM) is a key methane sink in marine sediments, driven by electron acceptors such as sulfate, nitrate, and metal oxides. Manganese (Mn) oxides, owing to their high oxidizing capacity and rapid turnover, are also recognized

Optical Coherence Tomography as an Emerging Technique for Identifying Pediatric Middle Ear Effusion

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This prospective study evaluated optical coherence tomography (OCT) as a diagnostic tool for identifying middle ear effusion (MEE) in 164 pediatric patients. OCT was determined to have a sensitivity of 74% and a specificity of 93%, comparable to otoscopy and tympanometry, with moderate agreement (κ = 0.41) between clinical and non‐clinical raters.

The Burden of Respiratory Syncytial Virus in Children With Acute Otitis Media: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesInfluenza Other Respir Viruses
ABSTRACT Background Acute otitis media (AOM) affects over 709 million individuals globally each year, more than half of whom are children < 5 years. Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading viral cause of pediatric respiratory illness. We aimed to estimate the burden of RSV in children < 5 years with AOM Methods We performed a systematic review ...

Nasopharyngeal Microbiota in Infants With Acute Otitis Media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background. Interspecies interactions of the nasopharyngeal microbiota are likely to be involved in the pathogenesis of acute otitis media (AOM). Capturing the breadth of microbial interactions requires a detailed description of the microbiota during ...
