The Fungal Pathogen Fusarium graminearum Can Hydrolyse Tryptamine-Derived Hydroxy-Cinnamic Acid Amide Defence Compounds, and Generates Highly Increased Auxin Levels in Wheat via Copper Amine-Oxidases. [PDF]
Fusarium graminearum can cleave tryptamine‐derived hydroxycinnamic acid amides and convert the released tryptamine into auxin, suppressing plant defence responses; aoxΔ7—septuple knockout of copper amine oxidases blocks auxin formation. ABSTRACT The important cereal pathogen Fusarium graminearum is not only able to produce trichothecene toxins, like ...

Mechanisms of AOX removal during biological treatment
It is well known that a portion of the AOX generated during the bleaching of chemical pulps will degrade to inorganic chloride when alkali and heat are added to the waste stream. As reported by others, this hydrolysis can potentially occur in the mill sewer system as well as within the wastewater treatment process.

Assessing the function of the alternative electron transport chain in the Cryptosporidium parvum mitosome [PDF]
Cryptosporidium parvum and C. hominis possess a remanent mitochondrion called the mitosome, which lacks DNA, the tricarboxylic acid cycle, a conventional electron transport chain, and ATP synthesis. The mitosome retains ubiquinone and iron-sulfur cluster

Black flesh disorder in mango: a chilling injury symptom increased by early harvest and low storage temperature and reduced by 1-methylcyclopropene. [PDF]
Abstract BACKGROUND Black flesh (BF) is an internal disorder in mango, characterized by the development of dark brown to black pigmentation in the inner mesocarp tissue during storage or transport. This study investigated the effects of harvest maturity, low storage or low transport temperatures, and 1‐methylcyclopropene (1‐MCP) on mango fruit ...

AOX – a functional marker for efficient cell reprogramming under stress? [PDF]
Functional markers for stress tolerance can be used in plant breeding to identify genotypes with high yield stabilities under various conditions. Thus, a good marker should show a strong correlation with favourable adaptive plant behaviour. The efficient reprogramming of target cells for yield determination is currently considered to be the most ...

Anaerobic and Aerobic Treatment for AOX Removal
A two-year study has focused on AOX removal from bleaching wastewaters in anaerobic and aerobic biological treatment, using bench scale bioreactors operated in parallel and in series. Significantly higher removals have been found in anaerobic than in aerobic treatment.

Expression of yeast NADH dehydrogenase and ascidian alternative oxidase affects metabolism and free radical processes in Drosophila [PDF]
Objective The study aimed to investigate the effect of overexpression of alternative mitochondrial enzymes such as yeast NADH dehydrogenase I (NDI1) and alternative oxidase (AOX) on the metabolism, oxidative stress and feeding behavior of the fruit fly ...

Intra and Inter-Spore Variability in Rhizophagus irregularis AOX Gene [PDF]
Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are root-inhabiting fungi that form mutualistic symbioses with their host plants. AMF symbiosis improves nutrient uptake and buffers the plant against a diversity of stresses. Rhizophagus irregularis is one of the most widespread AMF species in the world, and its application in agricultural systems for yield ...
