Endothelial cell-derived Apelin inhibits tumor growth by altering immune cell localization
The Apelin/APJ signalling pathway, involved in multiple physiological and pathological processes, has been attracting increasing interest recently. In our previous study, Apelin overexpression in colon26 tumor cells suppressed tumor growth by inducing ...

Inflammation and mechanical force‐induced bone remodeling
Abstract Periodontitis arises from imbalanced host–microbe interactions, leading to dysbiosis and destructive inflammation. The host's innate and adaptive immune responses produce pro‐inflammatory mediators that stimulate destructive events, which cause loss of alveolar bone and connective tissue attachment.

Evaluation of Serum Apelin-13 in Acne Vulgaris Patients [PDF]
Acne is a longstanding inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous unit resulting from androgen-induced increased sebum production, altered keratinization, inflammation, and bacterial colonization of hair follicles by Propionibacterium acne [1]. Apelin is a newely discovered adipocytokine secreted by white adipose tissue and couples with the APJ receptor

Abstract Background Myocyte enhancer factor 2 transcription factors regulate essential transcriptional programs in various cell types. The activity of myocyte enhancer factor 2 factors is modulated through interactions with cofactors, chromatin remodelers, and other regulatory proteins, which are dependent on cell context and physiological state.

Molecular profile of pediatric pseudotumor cerebri: the role of apelin isoforms and oxidative stress
Background Apelin is an endogenous ligand of the apelin receptor (APJ), expressed in multiple tissues, including the brain and heart. Isoforms such as apelin-13 and apelin-36 play protective roles in pathological processes, including oxidative stress ...

We developed a patient‐derived, functional microfluidic model of the diffuse midline glioma (DMG) blood–brain–tumor barrier (BBTB) comprised of endothelial cells, astrocytes, pericytes, and tumor cells. The system forms perfusable microvasculature, reveals the BBTB retains vascular integrity, identifies DMG‐specific transcriptomic changes distinct from

ACKR1+ endothelial cells mark intraplaque neovessels with hyperactive glycolysis and lactate metabolism. Lactate, HIF‐1α and CXCL12 link this state to CXCR4+ CD8+ T‐cell recruitment in situ. SLC16A3 and SLC16A4 serve as quantitative readouts of this lactate–immune state.

Preferential apelin‐13 production by the proprotein convertase PCSK3 is implicated in obesity
The peptide hormone apelin is translated as a 77‐residue preproprotein, truncated to the 55‐residue proapelin and, subsequently, to 13–36‐residue bioactive isoforms named apelin‐13 to ‐36. Proapelin is hypothesized to be cleaved to apelin‐36 and then to the shorter isoforms.

ABSTRACT Background and Aims Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a major global health challenge, primarily driven by insulin resistance and progressive β‐cell dysfunction aggravated by chronic low‐grade inflammation. Skeletal muscle has emerged as a pivotal endocrine organ through the secretion of myokines, which exert systemic metabolic and immunomodulatory ...

Pancreatic Cancer Disrupts Circadian Patterns of Gene Expression in Cardiorespiratory Muscles
ABSTRACT Background Cancer cachexia, a debilitating syndrome characterized by muscle wasting, significantly impacts survival in gastrointestinal cancers like pancreatic cancer. Emerging evidence suggests a link between cancer cachexia and disrupted circadian rhythms in peripheral tissues, including locomotor muscles. However, circadian dysregulation in
