Apelin/APJ signaling in hypoxia-related diseases

Clinica Chimica Acta, 2015
The regulatory peptide apelin is the endogenous ligand for the orphan G protein-coupled receptor APJ. Apelin and APJ exist in a variety of tissues, with special status in the heart, lung and tumors. Consequently, the apelin/APJ system exerts a broad range of activities that affect multiple organ systems.

Discovery of a Competitive Apelin Receptor (APJ) Antagonist

ChemMedChem, 2011
AbstractThe apelin receptor (APJ) is a class A G‐protein‐coupled receptor (GPCR) and is a putative target for the treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Apelin‐13 (NH2‐QRPRLSHKGPMPF‐COOH) is a vasoactive peptide and one of the most potent endogenous inotropic agents identified to date.
