The Role of Apolipoprotein E and Apolipoprotein B in Atherosclerosis

1991
Two apolipoproteins (apo-), apo-B100 and apo-E, are extremely important in lipoprotein metabolism and in the development of accelerated atherosclerosis. Their significance stems from their role in binding to the low density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor and mediating the catabolism of lipoproteins via the LDL receptor pathway.
